BACKGROUND ON ANAPA:
The purpose of the USAID-funded Ana ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo (ANAPA) project is to prevent new HIV infections by ensuring equitable access to and use of health, HIV, and social services among children, adolescents, their families, and young women in Malawi. The ANAPA project is led by Project HOPE Namibia, with Project HOPE US, the Lilongwe Catholic Health Commission (LCHC), and the Association of Social Workers (ASWIM) in Malawi as sub-partners. As part of our scope, Project HOPE US is providing high quality technical assistance to consortium members and Government of Malawi structures to build local capacity in the implementation of evidence-based, structured interventions, data management, and program monitoring, evaluation, and research.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Instructional Design Advisor will support and assist with delivering training programs supporting Project HOPE’s scope of work on the ANAPA project. The primary duties of the Instructional Design Advisor will be to maintain and manage an e-learning platform that stores and administers training; adapt training for the e-learning platform; and organize and coordinate virtual and in-person training.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Sustainability and Local Capacity Advisor with establishing e-learning modules for ANAPA trainings.
- Set up the e-learning platform so that training is easy to access, review, and complete.
- Establish tracking tools so that project management can track training completion and produce completion certificates.
- Develop knowledge assessment tools that are integrated into e-learning platform, including quizzes.
- Support with training coordination, including scheduling in-person and virtual trainings in Malawi.
- Support our blended approach to learning across the business including e-learning, micro-learning coaching, mentoring, virtual classrooms, classroom-based training events, etc.
- Work closely with subject matter experts, Portfolio Leads and Directors to source content and understand training needs.
- Provide input for designing training courses which cover a variety of pertinent subjects and amend the existing training materials, as necessary.
- Create online training courses using content development tools such as Articulate 360, Pluto LMS.
- Create and manage overall course structure and the setup of training programs.
- Closely collaborate with a training content developer to adapt training curriculum as needed for online format. Work with a curriculum development consultant on the following:
- Development of story boards and content
- Scripts and animation
- Voice over editing
- Technical and content quality assurance
- Creating tools, supplemental learning guides, instruction videos, and other support materials
- Build assessments and course evaluation tools, analysis feedback, making recommendations for improvement where required
- Support the coordination of translation to multiple languages (as required).
- Ensure content is developed in line with Project HOPE’s brand guidelines, liaising with our marking and communication colleagues, as required.
- Act as the system administrator for the LMS platform including point of escalation for system issues, LMS vendor management, user registration, and completion metrices.
- Manage learning and development support and act as a point of escalation working closely with regional IT support to ensure timely resolution.
- Upload training materials and associated data onto LMS system and monitor compliance
- Assist departments with conversion of face-to-face courses to hybrid and online formats.
- Collaborate, assist, develop, and participate in the facilitation of professional development workshops and symposia, particularly regarding course design, online teaching, and technology-enhanced instruction.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated learning methodology skills and experience.
- At minimum 5 years of Instructional Design experience, including design and development of web-based training modules using eLearning software.
- At least 5 years of learning management system experience.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
- Demonstrated team and collaboration skills.

Work environment:
- Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level.
- Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions.
- Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation.
- While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.
- Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.”
