The Inclusive Digital Governance for the Asia-Pacific: Bridging the Divide, Shaping the Future online workshop, organized by UNITAR CIFAL Jeju, will be held on 3–4 July 2025. This two-day event aims to explore the evolving landscape of governance in the digital era, focusing on how inclusive and sustainable digital governance frameworks can address persistent inequalities across the Asia-Pacific region.
As digital technologies transform economies and societies, they also expose and deepen structural disparities in internet access, digital literacy, and participation. These divides—particularly across urban and rural communities, gender lines, and marginalized groups—limit the potential of digital transformation to serve as a driver of inclusive development.
Through expert-led lectures, case study sharing, and interactive dialogue, this workshop will:
- Examine the multidimensional nature of the digital divide in the region;
- Deepen understanding of inclusive digital governance frameworks that promote equity in access and participation;
- Explore best practices in digital inclusion for sectors and social groups such as rural communities, women, and older adults;
- Foster dialogue and cross-sectoral cooperation among government, civil society, private sector, and academia.
Target audience: Representatives from governments, NGOs, CSOs, private sector actors, and other stakeholders working to advance digital governance, public policy, and the SDGs (9, 10, and 17) in the Asia-Pacific region.
Methodology: The workshop will feature expert lectures, real-world case studies at community/city/country level, and opportunities for participant reflection and exchange. The program will address critical topics such as the urban–rural digital divide, digital barriers for women and marginalized groups, digital literacy for older adults, and multi-stakeholder collaboration for inclusive governance (subject to change).
