ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Program Associates – Civic DEFENDERS (PAs) support a complex global coalition at the intersection of human rights and technology. These two positions will support a global Internet freedom initiative that will support local civil society, independent media, and human rights defenders to better prevent and respond to digital repression in their own contexts.
The Program Associate is a unique, multi-faceted entry-level role that offers the incumbent the opportunity to develop administrative and project management skills and develop an understanding of how human rights and technology intersect. Under the guidance of the Program Officer (PO) and in coordination with the larger project team (including the Senior Advisors, MEL team, and Communications team), the PAs will participate in the direct implementation of a USAID-funded foreign assistance program by providing administrative and logistical support on a variety of project tasks, including administrative and technical support under the supervision of the Program Officer. The PAs will be expected to perform mid-level tasks requiring prior experience, education, or training, and will be responsible for administrative level support for a variety of activities within the Civic DEFENDERS project.
LOGISTICS
Internews has Headquarters offices in Arcata, CA, Washington, DC and London, UK which support a hybrid workforce with staff working remotely, fully in-office, or partially remote. This is a remote-based role; candidates must possess independent work authorization in their location that does not require sponsorship from Internews.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so candidates are encouraged to apply soon.
There are two vacant Program Associate positions. These are limited-term positions, with expected end dates of 30 September 2029.
