CARE is a global leader within a worldwide movement dedicated to ending poverty. We are known everywhere for our unshakeable commitment to defending the dignity of people. CARE works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice. We seek a world of hope, tolerance, and social justice, where poverty has been overcome, and all people live with dignity and security. We put women and girls at the center of our work because we know we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities. CARE started working in 1948 in Jordan to meet the needs of refugees and displaced persons who had been forced to flee their homes in Palestine, as a result of the 1948 Arab-Israeli war and the subsequent creation of Israel. Today, CARE’s programming in Jordan spans across the humanitarian-development-peacebuilding nexus to support the most vulnerable communities in Jordan, with a strong focus on Gender Equality, Women’s Economic Justice, Climate Justice, and protection/basic needs in Humanitarian contexts.
CARE believes that when women control economic resources, they will transform their lives and communities. CARE Jordan’s Women’s Economic Justice (WEJ) programming puts women at the center and leverages local expertise and networks, market-based approaches, and the private sector to help women earn, save, and invest more to reduce poverty, deliver equity, and improve women’s prosperity and economic resilience. CARE’s Women’s Economic Justice program aims to further advance gender equality and women’s rights in Jordan.

The WEJ Program Development Manger will collaborate with global and regional colleagues to share CARE Jordan’s program learning, and ensure alignment of technical approaches, internal ways of working, and programming adherence to CARE’s Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, and Abuse (PSHEA) policies and commitments.
