ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Program Manager, Sudan provides strategic direction and project management leadership to support effective and streamlined programming in Sudan and will report to the Sudan Country Director. The PM Program Manager, MENA will oversee the successful implementation of all USG and EU funded project activities.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

  • Coordinate with all departments across Internews to ensure efficient and timely implementation of projects.
  • Create, manage, and oversee projects’ workplans.
  • Oversee development of donor reports.
  • Support Country Director in business development efforts, including developing proposals and identifying possible partners.
  • Conduct regular review of documentation for all projects, identify gaps, and suggest plans for improvement.
  • Oversee day-to-day project management and implementation.
  • Oversee communication of program impact across projects.
  • Ensure subgrant related process and procedures are consistently implemented throughout the program, including agreements, disbursements, and reporting in collaboration with MENA Subgrants Officer.
  • Oversee tracking of budgets in coordination with Finance Officer.
  • Backstop the Sudan Country Director as needed, including by attending donor meetings, representing Internews at speaking engagements, and troubleshooting complex activity implementation challenges.
  • Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure program success.

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Required

  • At least 7 years of experience in program implementation of which 2-year experience in managing nonprofit development programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in humanities, social sciences, political science or business administration, postgraduate degree is a plus OR equivalent lived/professional experience.
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) Is required; professional proficiency in Arabic (written and spoken) is a significant asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with government representatives, project beneficiaries and partners, and other project stakeholders.
  • Strong hands-on media background in a development context.
  • Experience with grants management and due diligence.
  • Experience with USG and EU donors.
  • Sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics in the workplace and experience supervising diverse staff.
  • Demonstrated experience with training and capacity-building.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred

Note: Candidates who do not have these preferred qualifications, but who are interested and willing to learn, are encouraged to apply

  • Prior experience with Sudanese programs and collaborating with grassroots organizations is an advantage.
  • Strong expertise in the civil society sector is an asset.
  • Experience with INGOs and Sudanese context.
