PIN is one of the key organizations from the Central European region supporting human rights defenders and independent media within our Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (HRD). The HRD’s primary goal is to support independent individuals and groups in repressive and fragile environments who are the target of persecution, harassment, or arrests because of their opinions or activities, and to strengthen civil society in countries that are going through democratic transformation.
Although our Latin American (LATAM) program is located in San Jose, Costa Rica, we all belong to the larger HRD team, united by a shared vision and common goals.
As the Regional Desk Officer, you support the work of the Centre of HRD’s Latin America program, based in Costa Rica. You act as a liaison between HQ in Prague and San Jose, keep a track record of LATAM projects and programs, and help with the submission of proposals, reports, and amendments.

Work model: Hybrid – combines 3 days of in-office and 2 days of remote work
Line Manager: Director for the Centre of Human Rights and Democracy
Starting Salary: 44 000 – 47 000 CZK gross per month
Your duties and responsibilities are:
- Act as a liaison between HQ and Costa Rica, ensuring clear flows of communication between the offices, participating in relevant weekly meetings, identifying, addressing, and escalating issues as needed
- Assist with logistics and administration of the trips of LATAM colleagues and guests to Europe, including purchasing tickets, accommodation, ensuring per diems and other necessary expenses are covered
- Represent LATAM at the relevant meetings at HQ and in Europe in agreement with the LATAM management
- Keep a track record of regional projects, and help with the submission of proposals, reports, and amendments (including via electronic systems)
- Support with project design and proposal writing, including conducting desk research for LATAM regional program
- Support on budget development for proposals, in conjunction with the relevant Financial Manager
You should possess:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as international relations or Latin American studies
- Languages: High proficiency in English and Spanish and at least communicative knowledge of the Czech language
- Experience: Minimum of two year long experience in administrative tasks
- Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills, effective time management and handling multiple assignments
- Abilities: Ability to work well under pressure and good organizational skills and to work both independently and as an effective team member
- Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of the human rights landscape in Latin America would be an advantage
- Experience: Experienceworking with multicultural teams is also beneficial
We offer:
- Remuneration: Monthly gross remuneration ranging between 44 000 CZK and 47 000 CZK
