General Description of the Programme:

SENED is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization licensed and registered in Türkiye with the number 27-15-175. SENED Organization was established shortly after the Syrian Nakba and in response to the suffering of millions of Syrian refugees in Turkey as well as internally displaced people in Syria, to alleviate suffering, achieving justice, equality, and freedom, strengthening the role of civil society, and supporting and developing the local community. SENED works in the humanitarian work sectors to support, empower, and educate the community through several programs, takes exceptional care of people with disabilities and their families and defends their issues.

SENED Association emphasizes creating safe, accessible, and participation-encouraging living conditions for individuals’ emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development by focusing on people with disabilities. Beyond the medical perspective on disability, it tries to find solutions to the problems faced by disabled people with a holistic perspective by considering the disabled people, their families, and the society they live in, focusing on the conditions they experience. SENED Association aims to create a safe and supportive environment and space by conducting family-oriented activities to help disabled individuals and their families become stronger, discover their potential and stand by with their children. By collecting data on refugee-disabled people and identifying problems and needs, SENED strives to ensure harmony between disabled refugees and local people with a voluntary, professional team and a community-based approach. All activities, education, research, advocacy, etc., are carried out on platforms created by local and disabled refugee people.

Job purpose:

The Translator is responsible for facilitating communication between staff and beneficiaries during project activities by providing accurate Arabic-Turkish translation. The role also involves translating documents and supporting the project team throughout the implementation of activities to ensure effective communication.

Duties, objectives, and competencies:

· Provide accurate oral translation from Arabic to Turkish and vice versa during project meetings, workshops, and activities involving staff and beneficiaries.

· Assist in facilitating clear communication between project teams and beneficiaries, ensuring that both parties fully understand each other.

· Translate project-related documents, including reports, training materials, forms, and correspondence, from Arabic to Turkish and Turkish to Arabic.

· Ensure that translated documents maintain the original meaning, tone, and context.

· Assist project staff during the implementation of activities by providing real-time translation support as needed.

· Help staff in understanding beneficiaries’ feedback, questions, and concerns during project activities.

· Ensure that all translations are culturally appropriate and sensitive to the context in which the project is being implemented.

· Maintain high accuracy and clarity in both oral and written translations.

· Work closely with the Sr. Project Officer and project staff to understand the specific needs for each activity and ensure smooth communication flow.

· Provides support to the relevant staff in registering the beneficiaries, collecting service data and entering them into the data system

· Participate in planning meetings with the project team, providing insights on translation needs and communication strategies.

· Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information shared during translations, particularly in the context of working with vulnerable individuals such as refugees and persons with disabilities.

· Assist in the preparation of materials, documents, and resources needed for activities requiring translation.

· When necessary, accompanies beneficiaries for services provided by relevant public institutions and provides interpreting support

· Support and promote the standards outlined in the Code of Conduct and associated policies to project team.

· Any other job-related tasks as assigned by supervisor/line manager

Requirements: Essential

· At least high school graduate or higher.

· Have a language proficiency certificate of Advance in Arabic or Turkish languages or university graduation on translation of these languages.

· Suitable for working in the field (containers, tent areas and rural areas) with flexible hours, in all kinds of physical and weather conditions

· Intermediate computer skill, especially on MS Office programs

Requirements (desired)

· Bachelor’s degree.

· Minimum of 1 years of proven experience in NGOs/INGOs.

· Advanced in both Turkish and Arabic

Technical Competencies:

· Advanced knowledge in Arabic-Turkish translation

· knowledge in report writing

· knowledge in Excel & Word
