Job Overview:

The Psychosocial Support Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing community, family and focused support interventions that help humanitarian entrant populations, including refugees, asylum seekers, asylees and others, cope with the impact of social, emotional and psychological stressors. Reporting to the health and wellness supervisor, they will promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma associated with mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS). They will coordinate regular psychosocial and peer support groups and facilitate effective connections to supportive counseling and clinical therapy.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify individual and community needs and strengths
  • Develop and implement plans and interventions for addressing identified needs
  • Provide individual and family supportive counseling enhance psychosocial well-being
  • Facilitate support groups for individuals and communities
  • Train and advise other colleagues who will serve as support group facilitators
  • Collaborate with other service providers to ensure comprehensive support
  • Develop and maintain accurate case records and reports
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Social Worker and demonstrated experience working in case management, facilitating support groups, crisis intervention with refugees and other humanitarian entrants
  • MSW or equivalent
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including active listening, emotional de-escalation, patience, and compassion
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with diverse clients in a non-profit setting; previous experience working with refugees preferred
  • Experience in project or program management, including experience meeting deadlines, maintaining case files, and completing timely reporting
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that is multi-cultural and multi-lingual; experience using interpreters desired
  • Highly effective communication skills, demonstrating strong partnership skills, emotional intelligence, and situational awareness
  • Highly adaptable and flexible self-starter with ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others, juggle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in English; written and spoken

Working Environment***:***

  • Standard office working environment with regular local travel within the service delivery area
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: (Pay Range: $31.00-$32.90) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
