Budgeting Essentials Training Workshop

Course Overview

This course provides participants with practical skills in NGO budgeting through the examination of real project budgets. Over the four-week duration, attendees will acquire knowledge that can be directly applied within their respective NGOs. The culmination of the course will involve the consolidation and sharing of a comprehensive summary encompassing recommended NGO budgeting tools and techniques.

Upon completion, participants will return to their work environments equipped with the ability to prepare accurate, complete, and justified project budgets, employing the activity-based budgeting technique. The course emphasizes the significance of collaboration between program and finance teams in constructing and managing NGO budgets.

Objectives

By training completion, participants should possess knowledge and skills regarding:

🟩Develop accurate, comprehensive, and justified project budgets using the activity-based budgeting technique.
🟩Structure budgets in various donor formats to align with funding proposals.
🟩Create phased budgets designed for efficient program implementation.
🟩Describe the role and use of the Chart of Accounts in budgeting and budget management.
🟩Utilize a funding grid for effective management of programs funded by multiple donors.
🟩Identify a minimum of 10 different types of budgets.
🟩Understand three distinct approaches to setting budgets. constructing and managing NGO budgets.
