What is Goal 17 of the SDGs?
The seventeenth goal of the SDGs is aimed at strengthening the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, aware that the SDGs can only be achieved through strong global partnerships and cooperation.
The unions and partnerships between the different actors such as governments, the private sector, and civil society allow the mobilization and exchange of knowledge, technical capacity, technology, and resources.
What is the importance of the partnerships for the goals SDG?
In order to achieve compliance with the SDGs, it is fundamental that partnerships are engendered between all actors: governments, civil society, scientists, universities, and the private sector. The 2030 Agenda exhorts all nations, developed and developing ones, to adopt measures aimed at ensuring that no one is left behind.
Each nation will have to prepare continuous reviews to discuss the progress made, with the support of all its stakeholders. Governments should be encouraged to partner with firms in implementing the SDGs and to get involved in initiatives directed towards their achievement.
What types of policies are in line with Goal 17?
The types of policies that are in line with the partnerships for the goals SDG are:
- Policies aimed at mobilizing resources to improve domestic revenue collection;
- Policies aimed at implementing all development assistance commitments;
- Policies aimed at mobilizing financial resources for developing countries;
- Policies aimed at assisting developing countries in attaining debt sustainability.
