Can you help us reach our goals by providing operational support to our global Shifting the Power (StP) programme?

You will join the Education and Youth engagement unit in Save the Children Denmark’s (SCD) International Department, and a team of passionate and experienced colleagues. You will participate in piloting innovative (and exciting!) approaches and will have space to shape the programme.

Responsibility and Tasks

Programme Support

  • Administrative support and monitoring of a flexible funding mechanism for adolescents and youth civil society actors in fragile contexts;
  • Support coordination and communication with the programme’s technical and youth reference groups;
  • Coordination of Youth Innovation Lab (YIL) related activities, which include:
    • Coordination of regional and country level YIL trainings
    • Support YIL toolkit roll out
    • Collection of YIL lessons learned
  • Operational support to youth engagement in global level influencing. This includes logistics of travel; coordination of coaching and training; communication; safeguarding;
  • Operational support to youth consultations across the programme life; research initiatives; cross-regional youth networking and events;
  • Coordinate communication and operational support to a Youth Trainee scheme;
  • Overall administrative and operational support to the programme;
  • Ensure close and inclusive coordination with adolescent and youth partners; SCD country engagement teams; country offices; regional offices; and other stakeholders;
  • Ensure compliance with all Save the Children Denmark and donor processes and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in International Relations, International Development, Social Work, or another relevant field

Technical/professional skills:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relationship with diverse stakeholders, and particularly young people
  • Excellent computer skills, including the Microsoft Office package
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills, particularly communication, facilitation and presentation skills for diverse audiences
  • Additional languages like French and/or Arabic, an added advantage

Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in operational support to humanitarian and/or development programmes/advocacy in NGOs. Experience in fragile contexts or conflict settings an added advantage;
  • Experience engaging with adolescents and/or youth;
  • Experience in the coordination of events / workshops;
  • Experience working in teams with people from different backgrounds with different communication styles
  • Added advantage: Experience with YIL or similar participatory approaches an added advantage; experience with granting mechanism to youth-led civil society an added advantage

Terms

A full-time, remote position to be based in any location where Save the Children has programmes.

The contract will initially be for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

This position requires up to 20% travel.
