About FBA’s Gender-Responsive Leadership Initiative

Lack of proactive leadership on gender equality has been repeatedly highlighted in research, policy and practice as one of the key missing pieces in the puzzle to achieve successful implementation of the international agenda on women, peace and security as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality.

In response to this gap, FBA launched an initiative on gender-responsive leadership four years ago. During this time, we have developed a unique evidence-based definition and conceptual framework on gender-responsive leadership. Based on this framework, we have designed an innovative learning programme that we have piloted and successfully run with senior leaders and managers from the EU, OSCE and UN in both the field and headquarters.

FBA is now launching a complete set of gender-responsive leadership capacity building resources, including a handbook, facilitator guide, participant workbook and an inspirational video series – available in English, Spanish and French.
