The Opportunity – Health Program Coordinator

Post location: Gaza Field Office – Subject to change based on SC priorities and response in Gaza.

Contract Duration and Level of Effort: Until the end of December 2025.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Health Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and oversight of Save the Children’s clinics operations in Gaza. This role ensures that quality health services are delivered effectively, in line with humanitarian standards, and that clinical teams (health officers and doctors) are well-supported, supervised, and accountable. The position is primarily managerial and administrative, ensuring that clinics are functioning optimally, reporting systems are effective, and medical protocols are adhered to.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Health & Nutrition Program Manager

Staff reporting to this post: Health Officers.

Budget Responsibilities: None.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

1. Leadership & Coordination

  • Provide overall supervision and coordination of the clinic(s), ensuring smooth operations and quality service delivery.
  • Line-manage health officers and clinical staff, including performance monitoring, coaching, and capacity building.
  • Coordinate with Save the Children’s health leadership team, logistics, and other support units to ensure clinics have adequate supplies, staffing, and support.
  • Represent the clinic in internal coordination meetings and external health cluster/partner meetings when required.

3. Planning & Administration

  • Develop and oversee clinic schedules, staffing rosters, and workflow management.
  • Lead the compilation of medical data, reports, and health indicators, ensuring timely submission to donors and internal teams.
  • Contribute to health needs assessments and support strategy development for health services in Gaza.

4. Capacity Building & Support

  • Identify training needs for health staff and organize refresher sessions (e.g., clinical protocols, IPC).
  • Foster a supportive team culture and ensure effective communication between clinic staff and the wider response team.

5. Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Support rapid scale-up or scale-down of services during emergencies or security events.
  • Ensure contingency plans and emergency stock are in place for clinics.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Medical degree (doctor) with experience in health program management.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • At least 3–5 years of supervisory experience in humanitarian or emergency health responses.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and coordinate multidisciplinary staff in challenging settings.
  • Strong skills in administration, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards (Sphere, IPC, WHO).
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills in complex, high-pressure contexts.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken).

Desirable:

  • Previous experience with Save the Children or other international NGOs in Gaza or similar contexts.
  • Knowledge of logistics and supply chain for health facilities.
  • Skills in staff training and capacity building.
