The Civil-Military Coordination Service (CMCS) jointly with OCHA’s Regional Office for Southern and Eastern Africa (ROSEA) is pleased to invite you to the upcoming United Nations Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination (UN-CMCoord) residential training course in Kenya focusing on East Africa.

The residential course will be held from Sunday 16th (afternoon) to Friday 21st June (midday) 2024, at the Institute for Peacekeeping Support Training Center (IPSTC), in Nairobi. The training is free of charge, and OCHA will cover the cost of board and accommodation for the course duration. We kindly ask your organization to take care of travel, any visa requirements, and applicable allowances.

The training will bring together three interdependent emergency communities: a) UN agencies; b) Militaries from United Nations Member States, both domestic and international; and c) non-governmental humanitarian organizations. We strongly encourage the humanitarian field level staff from the East Africa region, and women, to apply.

The objective of the course is threefold: 1) to enhance the understanding of UNCMCoord and its application in complex emergencies and natural disasters; 2) to contribute towards building a pool of humanitarian CMCoord officers and militaries that can interact during emergencies; 3) to expand the regional network of CMCoord practitioners among humanitarians and military actors. The ultimate aim is to strengthen the role of UN-CMCoord in opening and protecting humanitarian space in support of humanitarian action during emergencies in the region.
