The free Humanitarian Needs Assessment E-Learning Program is specifically designed for humanitarian organizations to provide an overview of the humanitarian needs assessment process. This e-learning resource is provided by Kobo, the nonprofit behind KoboToolbox, and was co-developed with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
This course was first published in 2015 as Coordinated Assessment Training Modules. It is being provided in its current form on KoboToolbox Academy to improve access to this resource for humanitarian organizations.
About the course
This interactive course explores the process of conducting humanitarian needs assessments, with a focus on assessment coordination. After successful completion of the course, you will receive an official certificate.
What will the training course cover?
Throughout the training, we’ll follow an interactive joint assessment scenario. As you proceed through the course modules, you’ll also find resources and information about programmatic and sectoral assessments.
When is the training course?
The training course is entirely online and self-paced, so you can complete it on your own schedule, get real-time results on learning assessments, and receive feedback on your progress.
Who should attend this training?
This course is designed for humanitarian organizations and individuals who will be conducting humanitarian needs assessments, with a focus on using KoboToolbox and KoboCollect for data collection and management.
How is the training organized?
The course contains 2 learning modules which follow an interactive joint assessment scenario. Each learning module includes hands-on exercises and quizzes to help you practice and apply what you learn. At the end of each module, you will find a summary to reinforce important concepts.
