We are hiring a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Program Manager (MHPSS PM) located in the Middle East. The MHPSS PM provides direction and oversight for Samaritans Purse mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities throughout the district. Management responsibilities include leading the design and strategic vision of the project, budget management, and oversight of all psychiatric, therapeutic, and counseling services provided by Samaritans Purse.

A day in the life of a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Program Manager:

In the role of MHPSS PM you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Develop innovative and strategic programmatic solutions to the MHPSS gaps in the district, considering local norms and budget availability.
  • Oversee group therapy, psychiatric services, consultations, medication voucher system, and livestock activities provided to the community by the program.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Samaritans Purse policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Serve as primary budget holder for the project budget ensuring that funds are spent in accordance with the proposal budget and SP policies.
  • Recruit, lead, and develop programmatic national staff. This includes full-time staff and contractors. Provide spiritual and professional leadership to national staff including casting the vision, troubleshooting, and coaching team members.
  • Provide active guidance to staff to ensure all activities are planned, prioritized, and carried out according with the program log frame and work plan.
  • Develop and plan sector-specific curriculums, programmatic procurements, and activities.
  • Write annual project proposal in addition to monthly, semi-annual, and annual reports.
  • 20% of time in contact with Samaritans Purse beneficiaries (children, young adults, adults at risk) promoting and safeguarding their welfare within the context of Samaritans Purse operations
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in preferably in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or similar field of study and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with multi-national staff is preferred. Masters degree is preferred.
  • Ability to keep communication lines open with all programmatic parties regarding scheduling changes
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems and its applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and iForm
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Cross-cultural communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Analytical, statistical, and report writing skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor others
  • Fluent spoken and written English skills; Arabic and/or Kurdish language skills preferred
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire

Job Location: Middle East

** Given the fluid security environment, the employee may be required to work remotely form a location determined by Samaritan’s Purse leadership for an indefinite period, until conditions allow a return to the designated work location.

Type: Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); Arabic and/or Kurdish language skills preferred

Accompaniment: Unaccompanied

Travel Expectations: Willingness to travel in and out of the field. Travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
