The Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (T.E.C.C.) training is a qualifying first aid course developed by the NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians) and the PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) Committee.

Offered over three (3) days, AACCES has created a training program based on the guidelines of the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care Commission (Co-TECC).

The T.E.C.C. course at AACCES introduces participants to pre-hospital emergency care for victims in tactical situations (e.g., shootings, post-IED attacks, or bombings).

This course is aimed at any civilian personnel who have already received basic medical training, such as PSC1 or BLS (Basic Life Support), and may find themselves in a first-responder situation.

The T.E.C.C. learning program is primarily focused on practical knowledge, international guidelines, and current tactical protocols for managing victims requiring urgent care.

The goal of T.E.C.C. is to reduce the number of preventable deaths among victims with serious injuries, including those from warfare (e.g., amputations, gunshot wounds), through theoretical and practical training in specific techniques and equipment for managing casualties in high-risk environments.

All skills acquired will be tested through various complex and realistic scenarios. Participants will face the challenges inherent in essential pre-hospital medical actions crucial for a victim’s survival.

At the end of the course, participants will be expected to demonstrate their ability to:

  • Use an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) and its contents.
  • Recognize the different phases and protocols for assessing one or more victims (triage).
  • Identify various mechanisms of injury.
  • Recognize injuries, signs, and symptoms of an injury and apply appropriate treatments.
  • Control bleeding, maintain airway patency, and manage chest wounds.
  • Recognize and treat the consequences of hemorrhagic shock.
  • Correctly apply early hypothermia prevention techniques.
  • Develop strategies for treating casualties in degraded environments.
  • Practice different techniques for lifting and extracting victims to a safe area.
  • Hand over a victim to medical teams clearly and systematically.

AACCES has its own training center, complete with teaching materials, classrooms, and privileged access to outdoor training grounds around Niamey (Limite des “Ficelles”), allowing participants to train in realistic conditions while remaining in a controlled environment.

Modules covered include:

The T.E.C.C. training at AACCES alternates between theoretical phases and practical scenarios directly on the field.
