Training/Workshop

In 2016 the Clingendael Institute started with the Humanitarian Negotiation Project financed, which allows us to, among others, train mediators who mediate in a humanitarian context. We have a new training coming up in which we will go over negotiation concepts and strategies and which will focus primarily on humanitarian mediation.
The 5-day training will contain a mix of negotiation and mediation concepts and strategies, self-assessments and practical exercises such as role plays – all followed by debriefing and reflection sessions. We start with negotiation skills and throughout the week move to mediation skills, as we believe it is crucial for mediators to understand the difference between the two in order to be successful in their role
