The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office of Information and Technology Management (ITM) in Copenhagen plays a vital role in advancing UNDP’s digital transformation agenda. ITM supports UNDP Country Offices with the implementation of digital and green energy solutions, to achieve sustainable development goals on a global scale while enhancing value delivery to partners. The Communications & Multimedia Internship will support ITM’s Communication and Change Management team, specifically handling internal daily communications and multimedia activities.

The UNDP/ITM Communications & Multimedia Internship programme enhances the academic life experience of passionate students as interns and empowers them to become socially responsible, innovative, and environmentally conscious leaders of tomorrow. As an intern, you will also gain worldwide connections with other top-talented interns and UN staff and be given tasks and opportunities that have a direct global impact on international development efforts.
- Assist in the production of the ITM quarterly newsletter.
- Help produce and manage content for internal and external communication channels.
- Help maintain the ITM intranet on SharePoint Modern and external Drupal sites.
- Support the monitoring of analytics across channels. This includes creating monthly reports, tracking KPIs, and recommending improvements.
- Assist in planning and executing internal communication activities, including onboarding, Town Hall and staff engagement activities.
- Ensure all multimedia and communications assets are produced in line with the ITM and UNDP branding style guide.
- Perform any other related tasks as required or assigned by the supervisor.
- Communication: Understands internal and external communications and can craft clear, engaging, and informative content for various formats and platforms. Attention to detail is crucial;
- Quick Learner: Quickly grasps and applies new knowledge, skills, and procedures to efficiently execute tasks and contribute to projects with minimal supervision or training;
- Collaboration: Works effectively with different personalities across a variety of social and professional situations, displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality, and age sensitivity and adaptability;
- Design: Demonstrates a strong design approach with a clear and structured creative process.
- Problem Solving: Has a proactive hands-on approach, also when operating with limited information;
- Motivation: Has an interest in working in an international organization;
- Independence: Able to work independently and with tight deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of Communications, Media, International Relations or similar;Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school Programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree Programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
- No working experience is required to apply for this internship. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Professional work experience, if any, will be considered a plus.
- Experience in internal communications would be a distinct advantage;
- Experience with Adobe Suite, such as Illustrator, InDesign, etc. is an asset;
- Knowledge of Content Management System (CMS), ideally in SharePoint and Drupal is desirable;
- Proficiency user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.);
- Experience in multimedia design for corporate communication and websites is an advantage;
- Basic knowledge of photography would be beneficial.
- Brief Cover Letter (in English) stating interest in and qualifications for the post;
- Current and complete CV in English;
- A portfolio or examples showcasing your previous communications work, including written content, campaigns, multimedia projects, or other relevant examples.

- In accordance with the UNDP Internship policy, UNDP interns are eligible to receive a monthly stipend, with the rate that varies depending on the duty location. The stipend will be paid monthly, and part-time internship arrangements are prorated accordingly.
- Where an intern is financially supported by an institution, government or third party, UNDP will, subject to the rules of such institution, government or a third party, pay the intern the difference, if any, between the external financial support provided and the applicable UNDP stipend.
- Except for the stipend, all other expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions.
- Interns are not considered staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
- Interns are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of their internship with UNDP and must provide a medical certificate of good health prior to starting the internship; UNDP will not reimburse the medical insurance of the intern. Any costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship assignment will be the responsibility of the intern.
- The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP, but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
- UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship.
- The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.
- Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship.
- The intern must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan.
- Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
- .You are expected to work full time, but flexibility is allowed for your education programme.
- The intern will have to make his/her own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation etc
