JOB SUMMARY
The Communications Officer will support efforts in articulating the organization’s programs, policy priorities, and humanitarian impacts through sophisticated copywriting and content development. Your role will involve the formulation and implementation of an extensive communications and marketing strategy, encompassing digital marketing, social media initiatives, multimedia content production, and active media engagement. This position requires a strategic communicator capable of crafting compelling narratives and engaging content to enhance our visibility and impact across diverse platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Communication Planning: Implement comprehensive communication and marketing strategies that align with the organization’s goals and enhance its public image.
- Content Creation: Write, edit, and oversee the production of engaging and informative content across various platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, and press releases. Ensure content consistency and brand alignment.
- Multimedia Production: Coordinate the production of multimedia content such as videos, podcasts, and infographics, ensuring they are compelling and effectively convey the organization’s message.
- Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets. Prepare media kits, pitch stories, and manage interview requests to promote the organization’s initiatives and successes.
- Crisis Communication: Manage communication in crisis situations, prepare statements, and coordinate with management to ensure a consistent and timely response.
- Event Management Coordination: Support the planning and execution of public events, such as conferences, seminars, and fundraisers, including managing event communications and promotional materials.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in communications, ideally within a nonprofit or advocacy context.
- Portfolio Submission: Candidates must submit a portfolio demonstrating a range of written work, showcasing an ability to craft compelling narratives.
- Knowledge Base: A solid understanding of humanitarian issues and a commitment to social causes.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional communication skills are essential, coupled with meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to thrive under pressure.
