Strategic Planning Background Process: Conducting a multi-stakeholder perception assessment
Background
Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is preparing for its strategic planning process for the 2026-2031 period. As part of this process, we are seeking a consultant to conduct an environmental scan and stakeholder perception assessment to contribute to and inform our future strategic direction.
NP reimagines security and civilian protection in areas most impacted by conflict by working alongside communities to interrupt and prevent violence. NP is a global civil society organization that works with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP) and by helping to transform the world’s response to conflict situations.
Objectives
The main objectives of this consultancy are to:
- Assess the current perception of and soliciting recommendations for NP among various stakeholders, including humanitarian and peacebuilding sector peers, institutional donors, academic and research groups.
- Evaluate the external environment, including trends, challenges, and opportunities, that may impact and could or should inform NP’s work for the coming period.
- Produce a comprehensive analytical report that will contribute to the development of our 2026-2031 strategic plan.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing a stakeholder perception assessment, including interviews and/or surveys.
- Conducting an environmental scan to identify relevant trends, challenges, and opportunities that are relevant to the work on NP
- Analyzing and synthesizing collected data and information into a comprehensive analysis report.
- Presenting key findings and recommendations to NP’s management team.
Deliverables
The consultant is expected to deliver:
- A work plan detailing the consultancy’s approach and timeline.
- An assessment report summarizing the findings of the stakeholder perception assessment and environmental scan, including key insights and recommendations.
- A presentation of the report’s findings and recommendations to the management team.
Timeline
The consultancy is expected to take place between December 1st, 2024 and February 11th, 2025
Consultant Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Proven experience in conducting stakeholder assessments, environmental scans, and/or strategic planning processes for NGOs or similar organizations.
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, including experience with interviews and surveys.
- Excellent analytical and report-writing abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
