The position is to be filled by January 1, 2025, with a contract duration of one year due to a maternity cover. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.
As a Corporate Compliance / Legal Officer, you will contribute to maintaining and continuously improving a strong culture of integrity, which is essential for our work, within a highly international team. Your focus will be on anti-corruption, anti-fraud, and anti-terrorism measures, as well as conducting related training. In addition to consolidating and maintaining existing corporate compliance structures, you will be responsible for maintaining, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the relevant corporate compliance activities of Welthungerhilfe on a global level. This also includes independently conducting investigations in whistleblower procedures both domestically and internationally.
If you have a professional qualification in the legal field, you will also be involved in legal consulting for the organization both in-country and abroad, as well as in contract drafting. Your responsibilities
- Continuous improvement of the corporate compliance program, considering new corporate compliance trends, including the development of policies and processes, as well as training at the head office and country office levels.
- Independent conducting of investigations in whistleblower procedures both domestically and internationally.
- Regular reporting to senior management on the corporate compliance status and the associated risks.
- Monitoring, documenting, coordinating, and managing Welthungerhilfe’s corporate compliance activities.
- Collaborating with / advising regional directors, departments, and country offices on compliance measures and their implementation.
- If legal qualifications are present, also legal consultation and contract drafting in-country and internationally.
Your profile
- Relevant university or technical college degree in law or compliance, or comparable relevant professional experience.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in a similar, corporate compliance-oriented position, ideally in an international context.
- Extensive knowledge of laws and standards in the areas of corruption and fraud prevention, terrorism and anti-money laundering (including practical compliance management).
- Experience with whistleblower systems or other complaint-handling mechanisms.
- Strong conceptual skills, initiative, and implementation capability, as well as high standards of integrity.
- Strong communication skills and intercultural competence.
- Excellent English and German skills, an additional foreign language (e.g., French) is ideal. The working language is English.
