The Opportunity

This is an exciting time at NetHope as the organization builds on strong relationships within the philanthropic community and seeks to generate revenue to deliver innovative programs and services in collaboration with members and partners. The Development Coordinator will play an important role and work with a dynamic and passionate group of colleagues to accomplish this goal.

Development Coordinator

NetHope is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and proven fundraising professional to attract and grow philanthropy for NetHope’s mission. The Development Coordinator will provide vital support related to donor relations, development operations, development communications, and individual philanthropy to support the philanthropic efforts of the organization in an entrepreneurial, fast-growing fundraising environment.

Specific responsibilities include:

Donor Relations

  • Work directly with development team to build an understanding of donor engagement needs to foster a shared space for ideas from which to build better stewardship opportunities for important donor segments and assist in the planning and coordination of various activities.
  • Provide direct support to NetHope’s development team in the creation and implementation of strategies to cultivate, engage, solicit, and steward prospective funders and existing donors.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of prospect research process and activities.
  • Manages Opportunity Pipeline to track activity and pipeline accountability to ensure data accuracy and updated information.
  • Maintains list of important NetHope contacts, prospects, donors, and partners for invitation to and engagement in high level events and executive outreach.
  • Supports NetHope’s external engagements and provides prospect research, coordinates relevant meetings, synthesizes activities, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and supports follow-up activities for opportunities as assigned.
  • Coordinates and implements activities for Moves Management and Account Management calendars for prospects and current donors.
  • Leads and implements donor acknowledgement process.
  • Develops compelling presentations and proposals for donors and prospects, coordinates prospect and donor meetings, draft and distributes department agendas and notes, and drafts communications on behalf of the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and other leaders.
  • Supports aspects of dynamic donor proposals as assigned including writing, preparation of supporting documentation development, pitch deck creation, contract creation and processing, and stewardship materials. Supports and/or leads proposal development process and proposal staff leads as assigned.
  • Coordinates prospect and donor meetings, drafts and distributes department agendas and notes, prepares meeting materials and presentations, and drafts communications on behalf of the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and development team.
  • Prepares staff presenters for donor and prospect meetings by liaising with appropriate cross-functional staff, providing detailed goals and outcomes and supporting creation of meeting collateral and material by internal subject matter experts. Coordinates appropriate follow-on activities and resources.
  • Support activities related to the Donor Advisory Board and other related groups.
  • Supports the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and Senior Leadership Team in donor outreach, stewardship, and special projects as assigned.

Partnership Program Support

  • In collaboration with the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and Deputy Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy, supports partnership strategy activities with a focus on stewarding and deepening relationships with current partners, identifying opportunities for revenue growth and deeper support of NetHope’s mission.
  • Supports activation of benefits through NetHope’s Partnership Program and Global Summit Sponsorship program to include liaising with internal departments to navigate contracts and invoicing, activating benefits and gathering relevant information and/or requests from partners, establishes communication as assigned, maintains Salesforce, Box files, Asana, and other relevant systems during and through activation process as directed by department leadership.

Donor Communications and Events

  • Assist in the creation of communications for donor inquiries, appeals, events, and/or targeted outreach as needed.
  • Creates and disseminates regular donor and prospect newsletters and similar communications.
  • Assists with the implementation of all donor engagement events, both virtually and in-person.
  • Supports individual philanthropy by drafting donor-facing website content and donor acknowledgements, drafting donor appeals, and managing individual giving platform and campaign functionality.

Development Operations

  • Provides administrative support to the development team as assigned, including assistance in scheduling meetings, and preparing presentation materials for external and internal meetings, compiling meeting notes, prospect research, internal stakeholder meeting coordination, generating and reviewing donor solicitation, acknowledgements, and reports.
  • Maintains constituent profiles and accurately enters information, contact details, activity and interaction details, and various moves related to donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, performing these and other CRM-related functions with regularity and consistency.
  • Responsible for gift reporting and data integrity.
  • Synthesize outreach activities and document via Salesforce and related systems.
  • Manages essential data such as invoice due dates, payments received, proposals and agreements, and donor primary points of contact through strategic account management. Liaison with Operations Team on all department invoices, payment, and contracts.
  • Creates, provides, and circulates key performance indicator reports.
  • Creates, maintains, and updates relevant Asana projects.
  • Participates in other philanthropic activities for NetHope as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience meeting ambitious annual targets in previous position(s).
  • Superior writing skills, with the ability to quickly synthesize detailed program information and professionally prepare funder-facing materials to include dynamic pitch materials and presentations, fact sheets, concept notes, proposals, donor reports, and updates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders, navigating complex conversations to drive decision-making on corporate philanthropy opportunities.
  • Multilingual verbal and written communication skills a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Three years of nonprofit development experience
  • Relevant work experience in philanthropy or sales; knowledge of international humanitarian and development sectors a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred or equivalent work experience
  • NetHope Member experience highly valued, other NGO experience a plus
  • Experience with managing budgets and budget forecasting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Salesforce, prospect research and project management systems preferred.

Reporting and Working Conditions:

  • This position is a full-time position that reports to the Chief Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer and works closely with development, communications, engagement, and finance staff.
  • NetHope is a virtual organization, so our team, our Members, and our Partners are located around the world. Due to the global nature of the organization, meetings may thus be required at any time of the day to meet with our stakeholders in varying time zones. To meet these needs, NetHope embraces flexible schedules for team members, and we work with each other to be located globally, but still maintain a reasonable work-time balance.
