Takaful Al Sham (TAS) has been responding to the Syrian crisis since 2012 and to the Refugee Response in Türkiye since 2013. TAS works in Education, Early Recovery, Food Security, Livelihood & Empowerment, WASH, Protection, Shelter, CCCM, and Emergency Response, where TAS has implemented successfully more than 130 projects in Direct partnership with Institutional donors, UN Agencies, and INGOs such as; BHA, SCHF, UNICEF, WFP, UNDP, IOM, CARE, GOAL, Save the Children, Global Communities, World Vision, DRC, WHH, Archenova, Chemonics. Turkish Nationality is required for this position.

Role Purpose:

Responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation services for the organization. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the organization’s mission by ensuring the timely and secure movement of personnel, goods, and equipment to designated locations.

Functional and organizational relationships:

The driver is accountable to the logistics officer for the effective performance of all responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Safe Transportation: Operate the organization’s vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring compliance with traffic rules, regulations, and internal policies. Transport staff, volunteers, and goods to and from various locations as required.

2. Vehicle Maintenance: Perform regular vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness, including checking tires, brakes, oil, fuel, and other essential components. Coordinate with the appropriate personnel to schedule routine maintenance and repairs

3. Route Planning: Plan and determine the most efficient and safe routes for transportation, considering factors such as traffic conditions, road quality, and weather. Familiarize with the locations of NGO offices, project sites, and other destinations to ensure timely arrivals.

4. Safety and Security: Maintain a high level of vigilance and adhere to security protocols while driving. Implement defensive driving techniques to minimize risks and ensure the safety of passengers, goods, and equipment. Report any incidents, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.

5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to vehicle usage, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance. Prepare and submit timely reports on vehicle operations, including any incidents or accidents that occur during transportation.

6. Asset Management: Take responsibility for the care and security of the organization’s vehicle, equipment, and supplies assigned to the driver.

7. Communication and Coordination: Maintain effective communication with relevant personnel, including the logistics team, and staff. Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate schedules, prioritize transportation needs, and ensure efficient logistical support.

8. Adhering to the organization’s code of conduct.

9. Ensuring that accountability and safeguarding procedures are adhered to and followed, and that any observation is reported.

10. Preserving the dignity of the beneficiaries and not causing any harm.

11. Respect and apply all principles of protection from sexual exploitation and abuse and the child protection policy, and the obligation to report any incident of sexual exploitation or abuse or any breach of the protection policy.

12. Adhere to all Takaful Al Sham organization policies and abide by administrative orders and disciplinary procedures in the event of any violations.

13. A pledge to abide by the zero-tolerance policy adopted by the Takaful Al Sham organization in cases of sexual exploitation and abuse, and immediate reporting in the event of any violation in this regard.

14. Executing any other tasks assigned to him/her by the line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Valid driver’s license, preferably with endorsements for carrying passengers or transporting goods.

• Turkish citizenship.

• High level of proficiency in Turkish and Arabic. English is an advantage.

• Demonstrated safe driving record and knowledge of defensive driving techniques.

• Familiarity with local traffic laws, regulations, and road conditions.

• Previous experience as a professional driver, preferably with an NGO or humanitarian organization.

• Basic mechanical knowledge to conduct vehicle inspections and perform minor repairs.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

• Excellent communication skills to interact with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.

• Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, when required.

• High level of integrity, reliability, and commitment to upholding professional standards
