We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities
Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.
Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organizations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe.
Summary job description
Blue Ventures seeks an experienced leader to direct its new programme in East Africa, driving impact at scale for coastal communities and the ocean. The Regional Director will lead a dynamic team, build partnerships, and drive growth in the region and beyond. Change management expertise is vital for navigating rapid growth, fostering commitment to transformation, and aligning strategies.
The Regional Director will coordinate with global colleagues, enhance operational efficiency, and drive strategic planning processes. As the face of Blue Ventures in the East Africa region, the Regional Director will engage with key stakeholders, drive fundraising efforts, and represent the organisation at various levels. The ideal candidate is strategic, resourceful, and culturally sensitive, with a track record in international development or conservation. This leader should blend entrepreneurship with strategic acumen, fostering innovation and inclusivity while prioritising evidence-based decision-making and continuous learning.
