The Ecosystems, Communities, Climate in Cubango-Okavango – ECCO Project, will provide support to meet the conservation priorities of the Angola program and will work closely with the Chief of Party to provide operational support to program implementation in Cuando-Cubango province. The primary task of the Field Coordinator will be to support high-quality implementation and support the coordination of the ECCO project field activities. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the ECCO Chief of Party, in close cooperation with the ECCO Project alliance Partners, specialists on the field and the Okavango Basin program team. The position will be based in Menongue, Cuando-Cubango Province, Angola. No employment visas or assistance is being offered with this position except for the local labour employment requirements.

The Project Field Coordinator will play a crucial role in the successful implementation of a USAID-supported conservation project by coordinating the activities of various implementing partners on the ground. The Project Field Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and coordination among all partners to achieve project goals and objectives.
Reporting to the ECCO Chief of Party, the position will be based at the TNC office in Menongue, Cuando-Cubango Province in Angola.
Specific roles and responsibilities will include:
•Coordinate and facilitate communication between the project team, implementing partners, localcommunities, and relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
•Develop and maintain strong working relationships with implementing partners to ensure alignmentand achievement of project objectives and timely delivery of activities.
•Support the development and implementation of work plans, monitoring and evaluation plans, andreporting mechanisms in coordination with implementing partners.
•Provide technical guidance and support to implementing partners to ensure the quality andeffectiveness of project activities.
•Monitor project progress, identify challenges or bottlenecks, and work with partners to developsolutions to address them.
•Organize and facilitate regular coordination meetings, workshops, and training sessions for partnersand stakeholders.
• Support the project team in preparing progress reports, success stories, and other project documentation for USAID and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with USAID regulations, project policies, and procedures in the implementation of activities.
• Contribute to the identification of best practices and lessons learned for replication and scaling up in future projects.
• Work under limited supervision, act independently, resolve complex issues within the project area, and act as a resource to others.
What You’ll Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, conservation biology, natural resource management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 3-5 years of experience working in conservation projects, preferably with USAID or other international donors.
• Proven experience in project coordination, partnership management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations is a plus.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites and work in remote locations.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in conservation biology, biodiversity conservation, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience influencing, developing, and implementing conservation programs.
• Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation and natural resources management in Angola
• Excellent report writing, analytical, and communication skills, knowledge management, and dissemination of findings in English.
• Ability to work with remote teams and across time zones.
• Skills in facilitating, negotiating, and conflict management.
• Proven communication skills in written, spoken, and graphical means in Portuguese and English.
• Competence in computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.).
• Valid Angolan Driving License.
• A passion for Angola’s wildlife and wild spaces.
• Good knowledge of USAID standards and tools.
• Ability to work independently with strong self-motivation.
• Politically savvy.
