The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of two years. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, with frequent travel to project locations in the country.

Welthungerhilfe’s Country Office in Ethiopia works on a range of projects aimed at improving food security, nutrition, livelihoods as well as humanitarian response, predominantly in partnership with national civil society organizations. As Regional Program Development and Quality Manager, you will support our program teams to ensure that the country strategy and program design are of high quality, evidence-based and implemented according to the organization’s standards. In doing so, you will support the management of grants program development, reporting and information management, helping to diversify the donor base and maintain strong donor relationships.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinate with relevant units to submit high quality proposals, revisions and reports, providing technical oversight on strategic considerations and program activities to ensure accurate, coherent and timely reporting
  • Review and follow up on the Country Office’s donor strategy, ensuring effective donor relationship management, including the organization of donor visits to projects with a focus on german donors
  • Translate donor communications, reports and proposals into german
  • Ensure projects are managed according to Welthungerhilfe and donor standards, and that implementation is on budget and on time.
  • Develop and maintain systems and tools for efficient grant management
  • Ensure a coordinated approach to risk management in collaboration with relevant Units, incl. timely implementation of dynamics, grant tracking and coordination with Head Office
  • Support and enhance linkages between the MEAL team and other program Units, and assist in gathering evidence for advocacy brief
  • Mainstream topics of strategic relevance such as gender, inclusion, climate change, conflict sensitivity and nexus
  • Ensure all obligatory program and project-related documents are updated in the internal project management system
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with other relevant stakeholders from civil society, the private sector and academia within the area of responsibility, in coordination with the Country Management Team
  • Lead resource mobilization strategies

Your profile

  • A university/college degree or comparable training in a field commensurate with this position
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the development/humanitarian aid sector
  • Demonstrated experience in program/project management and in donor relations management
  • BMZ, GIZ, EU donor experience is required, other institutional donor experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of all stages of program cycle management and quality standards in development programming
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s program countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English and German language skills
