To implement ACTION AGAINST HUNGER program interventions at the field level in conformity with overarching strategy and the standards set internationally by ACTION AGAINST HUNGER and by national policies.

Key activities in your role will include

Mission 1: contribute to ACTION AGAINST HUNGER country strategy implementation at the field level

The field program manager responsible for:

  • Contributing to the design and update of the country strategy by providing field inputs to DCD.
  • Collect information to identify humanitarian gaps around intervention.
  • Monitor and analyze key contextual indicators in the areas of intervention.
  • Take notice of sectorial orientations of national strategy, understand implications for areas of intervention and activities, and discuss with the country coordination team.

Mission 2: Implementation of program at the field level

The Field program manager is responsible for:

  • Close follow up of program implementation at the field level.
  • Facilitating any project conception in collaboration with country Coordination Team & base Officers
  • Ensuring the synergy between Technical and Support services at the field level.
  • Ensuring the implementation of recommendations from ACTION AGAINST HUNGER management resulting from internal audits, experts’ field visits, etc.
  • Support country Coordination team in setting-up tools for monitoring the logical framework indicators and following up on the budget.
  • Ensure regular field monitoring visits, often engaging MEAL.
  • Put forward recommendations for the definition and elaboration of programs (localization, methods of implementation, context…), considering log, admin, other areas of intervention, partners etc.
  • Contribute to proposals for further intervention (logical framework, covering literature, text, budget, time scales and logistics….) with concerned departments

Mission 3: Manage the team at field level

The Field program manager is responsible for:

  • Supervising and line- managing of all program Officers at base levels.
  • Promoting the commitment to ACTION AGAINST HUNGER Charter, CoC, Safeguarding, Harassment, Gender, and prevention of frauds and power abuses and inform CD in case of any violation
  • Supervise the recruitment process of program team members.
  • Organise and lead regular team meetings, as well as facilitate meetings between Coordination & Bases.
  • Work out and monitor individual action plans for team members.
  • Provide appraisal interviews for program’s team members.
  • Identify the training needs of program team members and propose training plans.
  • Create, organise and lead training sessions.
  • Manage conflict resolution among the team.

Mission 4: Facilitate good relationships with the team in the capital

The Field program manager is responsible for:

  • Proactively refer to the coordination team for any matter that could jeopardies the programs, the funding or the security/safety/access/community acceptance of staff and premises.
  • Organize program team meetings and share frequent updates with the coordination team.
  • Communicate with the program country technical team for relevant support and visits to the project sites and accompany the project team’s follow-up of technical recommendations.
  • Follow up procurement plan and coordinate with support departments in field/ and country office through head of base for all needs related to supply, finance, recruitment and administration formalities.

Mission 5: communicate/and liaise with local partners, authorities, UN, and NGOs at the field for program related matters.

The Field program manager is responsible for:

  • Support the head of based on Monitoring and supervising the overall partnerships-related level •Participating in the humanitarian coordination activities at the field.
  • Developing the networking for effective implementation and coordination
  • Take an active part in coordination mechanisms and influence decisions when needed.
  • Ensure continuous communication with the authorities to ensure the authorizations of work.
  • Define action plans with partners and regular follow-up of its implementation.

Mission 6: Ensure reporting and capitalization and contribute to quality and accountability.

The Field program manager is responsible for.

  • Providing the technical coordinators with all relevant reporting documents requested from the field
  • Ensure that the monthly updates are appropriately documented
  • Review contractual donors’ reports before sending them to coordination
  • lead the technical archive exercise in the field by review/ and validate all documents dealing with the essential techniques and methodologies involved in the project (including, when appropriate, beneficiary and distribution list etc..) for capitalization and audit purposes.
  • Initiate any relevant survey at the required time of the different programs.
  • Implement the recommendations made as a result of internal and external assessments in the context of a specific work plan (quality control);
  • Ensure effective feedback/ and complaint mechanisms and responses.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; long experience in the role of Program Management or Area Coordinator.
  • General knowledge of Food Security, livelihood, WASH, and nutrition and health required
  • Knowledge of DRM, Climate Change, Gender & Protection, MEAL
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in managing Programs in humanitarian projects /programs, preferably with an international NGO
  • Work experience in partnership with local NGOs would be an asset.
  • Prior humanitarian experience is required.
  • Prior INGO experience required.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic are mandatory.
  • Perfect mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Our remuneration package:

  • Based in: Sudan – South Kordofan – Kadugli office
  • Position length: 1 year (renewable based on Evalution)
  • Line manager: Deputy Country Director – Program
  • Salary: 1650 USD (Gross)
  • Annual Leave: 20 days/ year
