We are looking for an experienced Finance & Operations Officer within the Eurasia and North Africa Team. They will have an initial focus on supporting our programme in Syria.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Eurasia & North Africa Region. The Finance & Operations Officer, in coordination and cooperation with the ENA regional staff is responsible for providing finance, operations and administrative support to Tearfund’s programming in Syria, under the line management of the Finance and Operations Coordinator for Syria and Lebanon.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Diploma in Business Administration and/or financial management.
- Three year work experience for a business or NGO in finance, admin and operational department.
- Experience of external representation and engagement with stakeholders of different levels including liaising with government authorities in Syria.
- Worked with accounting and Finance Policies & Procedures.
- Managing cash books and paying petty transactions experience.
- Work experience in insecure environment and desirable work as security focal point.
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Very good organisational and scheduling skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Able to handle and guard confidential information sensitively and discretely.
- Good IT skills in: Microsoft Office, Database management and Advanced Excel skills
- Fluent in spoken and written Arabic and English.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills

Please note: This role will be based in Damascus, Syria. Applicants must possess a valid passport/visa stating the right to live and work in Syria.
The recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding issues. In addition, personal identification information will be submitted against a Watchlist database to check against criminal convictions as a counter-terror measure.
