Summary of the position

The GBV Officer is responsible for technical support for GBV activities by providing technical assistance to ensure the provision of high-quality GBV services and to ensure coordination and integration between GBV and health services in line with the directions of SAMS

Key relationships:

Health Advisory Department Members, Project Department, Field Managers and Quality Control Manager, Advocacy Department, Information Management Unit, MEAL Department, Grants Department.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Planning and organizing GBV activities
  • Contribute to the development of GBV services
  • Technical follow-up to the implementation of GBV activities through follow-up teams (Team leaders, case managers, case workers, outreach workers) and all processes related and its compatibility with the plan, includes:
  • Follow-up GBV sessions
  • Ensure the recording and archiving of files
  • Update session topics and work tools
  • Review internal data and data analysis, in addition to Periodic technical review of data, especially case management
  • Ensure all teams working according to SOPs & work Policy
  • Review the weekly and monthly reports and work plan
  • Update service map & referral pathway
  • Technical support to the teams
  • Ensure that all GBV activities are implemented and coordinated on the basis of a “do no more harm” approach.
  • Ensure the safety and appropriateness of referrals to other institutions for further assistance as necessary in order to suggest the best possible support and maintain confidentiality.
  • Supervising the coordination and integration of the GBV services with the Health and Protection services.
  • Supervision sessions for (Team leaders, case managers, case workers, outreach workers) teams (Supervision sessions, case discussion when needed).
  • Capacity building sessions for GBV teams (GBV basics and SOPs – disclosure and referral – case management).
  • Prepare ToRs for the trainings including the targeted groups, nominate trainers for the trainings, review the training scientific materials, and review the evaluation of the trainings.
  • Supporting the development of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials and community mobilization tools
  • Assist in managing day-to-day relationships with service providers and partners including reviewing the quality of their service delivery and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Preparing Job descriptions for new field positions (in the scope of GBV), and Participating in the employment of technical positions.
  • Technical review of success stories
  • Preparation of tools and technical forms needed for the team’s work.
  • Provide teams with adopted protocols and Guidelines, and Prepare protocols and Guides when needed.
  • Participation in the technical design of proposals (technical inputs in the field of GBV)
  • Participate in the preparation of GBV needs assessment (design of data collection tools…) , for identifying necessary GBV needs especially for vulnerable IDPs and hosts in order to develop effective GBV interventions and give the necessary suggestions.
  • Review ITT Reports and discuss them with the information department.
  • Providing technical inputs on monthly, quarterly, and annual technical reports.
  • Attending regular meetings with the GBV Sup cluster and representing SAMS.
  • Attending the Technical Meetings with the stockholders (when needed).
  • Share case management reports with the stockholders.
  • Periodic coordination with GBV contact points with partners and donors
  • Review the materials and add suggestions and recommendations that are developed by clusters and subgroups
  • Develop a technical tool to evaluate the work of the GBV team, and Conduct technical evaluation for employees (Team leaders, case managers, case workers, outreach workers).
  • Coordination with organizations and agencies regarding trainings and referrals when necessary.
  • Providing a list of requirements that are necessary for the team’s work.
  • Coordinate with the M&E team to develop and implement (M&E) plans for GBV activities.
  • Study the periodic reports from the monitoring and evaluation teams regarding the GBV issues (from the technical side) and give notes and suggestions to fill gaps.
  • Contribute to the technical solution of GBV problems and make the necessary suggestions.
  • Continuously monitor the technical evaluation of the strengths and gaps in the performance of partners and the field team members, ensure the work quality is professional, and develop in cooperation with the advisory team members, MEAL department, and quality control manager.
  • Supporting the other team members (e.g. Advocacy Department) in the identification of suitable advocacy messages and tools.
  • Supervising and leading awareness campaigns related to GBV
  • Assist in defining, implementing, and participating in the technical management of SAMS protection programs
  • Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory Qualifications required:

  • A university degree in any related field is required.
  • A university degree in Social Science is Desirable.
  • Proven experience of a minimum of 3 years in a GBV Officer position is mandatory.

Languages:

  • Fluent written and spoken in Arabic (native)
  • Upper-intermediate written and spoken in English
