Space of Peace Organization is a local humanitarian organization founded and led by women. It was established in 2014 and officially registered as a non-profit organization in Turkey in 2016. The organization began its activities in Syria and Turkey, focusing primarily on providing protection services, early recovery, health, water and sanitation, food security, shelter, distribution of non-food items, and education. It also aims to promote social cohesion and peacebuilding, as well as provide emergency responses in crisis situations.

The organization specializes in providing protection services and addressing gender-based violence, supporting and empowering women while ensuring the inclusion of protection issues and meeting the needs of women, girls, and persons with disabilities. It offers services to the most vulnerable groups, ensuring their equitable access to all services. Space of Peace also provides vocational training for women based on needs and supports small projects for them.

Space of Peace particularly focuses on women and the most vulnerable groups across various sectors of humanitarian work in which it operates. It emphasizes the importance of supporting women’s initiatives and volunteer teams while building effective partnerships with them. It is committed to promoting dialogue, social cohesion, and peacebuilding in the areas where it operates.

Additionally, it is a co-lead in the Gender Working Group, a member of the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) network and participates in the Accountability Group. The organization prioritizes the sustainability of its safe spaces for women and girls and is committed to providing all services as needed. It also focuses on child-friendly spaces to ensure a safe and supportive environment for children in their communities, enhancing their ability to access humanitarian services.

Job Title: Senior GBV Specialist
Location: Turkey / Gaziantep
Reporting To: Project Manager

Job Summary:
The Senior GBV Specialist plays a pivotal role in supervising and providing technical expertise for gender-based violence (GBV) interventions. This position ensures the effective implementation of survivor-centered services, promotes gender equality, and integrates prevention and response mechanisms into the overall protection strategy. The specialist oversees the coordination of GBV activities, provides training for staff in collaboration with the Project Manager, and participates in national and local coordination platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
– Technical Oversight: Supervise and provide technical guidance for GBV interventions, ensuring they are survivor-centered and aligned with best practices.
– Integrate GBV prevention and response mechanisms into broader protection strategies.
– Coordination and Collaboration: Oversee the coordination of GBV activities, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with the team in Syria.
– Attend GBV-related meetings and seminars in Turkey, emphasizing technical communication to maintain coordination and effective monitoring of activities.
– Case Management and Support: Act as a link between teams in Turkey and Syria to coordinate and track GBV cases, ensuring rapid and effective intervention.
– Monitor survivor cases closely, maintaining confidentiality and coordinating referrals to ensure continuity of support and services.
– Capacity Building: Provide necessary training for staff to enhance their capacity in delivering GBV services, in collaboration with the Project Manager.
– Develop response plans in conjunction with the team in Syria that reflect real needs on the ground.
– Strategic Planning and Advocacy: Support the development of strategic plans for the organization’s work in the GBV subsector.
– Contribute to the AOR-GBV Sup Cluster team as needed and participate in preparing annual plans for the subsector.
– Advocate for the establishment of safe spaces for women and GBV services with stakeholders and sector coordinators.
– Reporting and Documentation: Prepare bi-monthly reports reflecting expertise and documenting success stories, including crafting advocacy messages.
– Track attendance and participation in specialized meetings, working groups, workshops, and training sessions in the GBV subsector.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, gender studies, or a related field.
– Extensive experience in GBV programming, including direct service delivery and capacity building.
– Strong understanding of GBV issues, response mechanisms, and survivor-centered approaches.
