Global Health Advisor for Technical Quality & Impact.
Danish Red Cross (DRC) is looking for an experienced humanitarian to join our health team and work to ensure that people affected by disasters and crises have access to quality essential health services and are empowered to lead healthier lives.
About the position and the assignments
The specific purpose of the position is to provide strategic guidance, expertise, and support to health-related initiatives across the DRC bilateral operations, in line with needs and established technical standards, protocols and good practices. The Global Health Advisor collaborates closely with DRC country offices and Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies focusing on both capacity-development and promoting innovative, community-led health solutions.
The Global Health Advisor will be a part of the International Department of DRC and will report directly to the Head of Technical Quality & Impact (TQI) Unit on overall HR issues and will have a technical reference line to the Health Lead for coordination of tasks and technical aspects of work. When providing support to the DRC operations in specific countries, the Global Health Advisor will report to the DRC Country Managers on security and other issues pertaining to the mission in point, and s/he must coordinate closely and flexibly with the guidance of the country team.
Your main responsibilities will include:

Strategic Planning and Direction: contribute to defining and implementing DRC’s strategic direction and approaches in the health sector, with an emphasis on enhancing primary healthcare services through facility-based and community-led approaches.

Technical Support and Guidance: provide (onsite or remotely) evidence-based guidance and advice to DRC country offices on health service delivery models, ensuring alignment with the global standards and good practices, including in areas such as Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and health system strengthening.

Strengthening of Capacities: work closely with the Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies to support their capacity strengthening plans and initiatives through training, mentoring, and resource development aimed at enhancing the quality and resilience of healthcare services.

Program Monitoring and Evaluation: support planning and undertaking of assessments, baselines, endlines, reviews and evaluations, and setting up and management of health information system (HIS).

Advocacy: support DRC’s policy influencing, advocacy and humanitarian diplomacy efforts on health.

Resource Mobilization: support proposal development by contributing to the design of health project proposals that align with donor priorities and organisational goals.

Surge / deployments as needed and when possible, both to DRC country operations or for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Your profile
We are looking for a professional with at least five years’ experience with health programmes in humanitarian settings. You have proven experience and strong skills in project management, project proposal development, reporting, assessments, reviews, and evaluations. You have experience in developing strategies, approaches and tools related to health as well as training materials and/or facilitating trainings of teams. You are interested in innovative approaches and solutions in addressing health sector challenges. You have excellent English language skills; French and/or Arabic are considered an asset. You are a good communicator and a team player, but also structured, systematic and good at meeting deadlines. You have strong self-management skills and are able to go on field missions on a short notice, including for emergency response. The position requires flexibility and up to two – three months of travel per year.
We offer
The position is located at the Danish Red Cross Head Quarter on Blegdamsvej 27 in Copenhagen with up to two – three months a year travels. The position is a full-time position 37 hours per week. Salary is between DKK 41,300 and DKK 47,600 per month including pension, and according to qualifications and experience. It is an HQ position, and the salary package does not include family or housing allowances. The position is 24 months with possibility for extension.
