JOB PURPOSE

To ensure the effective financial management of a program coordinated by Amnesty International’s West and Central Africa Regional office. This project aims at strengthening mechanisms and resources to combat FGM and child marriage across three countries. The program is implemented by the national “sections” based in in Burkina Faso, Senegal and Sierra Leone.

ABOUT YOU

You have prior experience in the successful management of multi-year and multi-country programs with high-value budgets funded by external donors, preferably in the context of international NGOs. You have a good knowledge of donor requirements and compliance and proven ability to analyze, evaluate and summarize financial reports for accuracy and compliance with procedures, rules and regulations. You are fully familiar with accounting principles and systems, and excellent verbal and written skills in English and French.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support national sections to organize annual audits of program income and expenditure which should confirm the accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Prepare all financial reports, expenditure forecasts and fund requests to the donor and coordinate with the national teams (Sections)
  • Ensure income received and expenditure for the program is accurately coded in Amnesty International’s accounting and financial systems
  • Support the national sections to prepare their quarterly expenditure forecasts and reports
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of trainings for national sections and program partners where appropriate.
  • Visit national Sections to support grant management and provide technical support

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Significant experience of providing technical support to local partners including training.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial managers
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and French
  • High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; ability to work autonomously.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to the countries of intervention, knowledge of their contexts desirable.
