Job Title: Hygiene Promotion Support Officer

Job Summary:
The Hygiene Promotion Support Officer will deliver WASH-related interventions in the field and is responsible for leading hygiene awareness through household, community, and school visits. The incumbent will as well be responsible for the distribution of hygiene materials, and building the capacity of Community Health Promoters & teachers, and other Hygiene Facilitators in the Project area.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and oversee the implementation of components of the Water Sanitation and Hygiene activities related to Hygiene Promotion in consultation with the WASH Officer , ensuring quality programming.
- Provide WASH promotion related training for relevant community and school hygiene facilitators and concerned community members related to measures to remain protected from WASH related disease and about the importance of properly using and maintaining WASH infrastructures for the community to remain safe and healthy.
- Attend and represent the sector at Hygiene sub-sector specific coordination meetings at sub-county and county levels and provide feedback to the WASH Officer .
- Liaises with the WASH Officer to plan and implement hygiene promotion activities in the field.
- Train project beneficiaries in community mobilization, hygiene promotion and health education.
- Contribute to the drafting and updating of the Hygiene Promotion Manuals and other Information, Education and Communication material.
- Participate in field assessments to support the WASH & other teams for effective WASH implementation.
- Prepare of weekly work plan in accordance with the implementation plan.
- Initiate requisitions for procurement of hygiene materials, tools, IEC materials, equipment in a timely manner.
Other Duties
- Adhere to and promote the standards outlined in the Concern Code of Conduct and associated policies to their team, beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment
- Participating and contributing towards Concern’s emergency response, as and when necessary
- Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies
- Take all possible measure to meet Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS)
- Any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager
Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Community Health or a related field.
- Two to three years’ experience in a similar role
- Must have a working knowledge of Project Cycle Management & Community WASH implementation
- Demonstrated experience in implementing hygiene projects in ASAL areas.
- Fluency in spoken and written language in English and Swahili
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Computer literate with good MS Office skills
Preference will be given to candidates who have:

- Be willing to accept responsibility and to show good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness
- High integrity and demonstrated ability to follow standards and policies
