Mission and objectives
The Economic Commission for Western Asia (ECWA) was established on 9 August 1973 pursuant to Economic and Social Council’s resolution 1818 (LV). Its purpose was to stimulate economic activity in member countries, strengthen cooperation between them promote development. ESCWA’s objectives are to support economic and social development in member countries, to promote interaction and cooperation between member countries, to encourage the exchange of experience, best practice and lessons learned, to achieve regional integration and ensure interaction between Western Asia and other regions, and to raise global awareness of the circumstances and needs of member countries. ESCWA provides a framework for the formulation and harmonization of sectoral policies for member countries, a platform for congress and coordination, a home for expertise and knowledge, and an information observatory. ESCWA activities are coordinated with the divisions and main offices of the Headquarters of the United Nations, specialized agencies, and international and regional organizations, including the League of Arab States and its subsidiary bodies, and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Context
This assignment involves coordinating community engagement for a project aimed at enhancing MSMEs’ infrastructure and internationalization in the Arab region. The role includes organizing training sessions and workshops, conducting outreach activities, and facilitating MSME participation in regional and global forums to empower them and improve their operational environment.
Task description
1. Identify and engage with MSME communities in the target countries.
2. Coordinate and facilitate the organization of national training sessions and workshops for MSMEs.
3. Conduct outreach activities to engage MSME communities and disseminate information about the ecommerce platform.
4. Collect and solicit feedback from MSME communities to enhance the usability and effectiveness of the ecommerce platform.
5. Collaborate with local partners and stakeholders to deliver relevant training sessions tailored to the needs of MSMEs.
6. Ensure continuous communication with MSME communities, addressing their concerns and providing support as needed.
7. Assist in organizing annual inperson national events for MSMEs to participate in dialogues, best practice exchanges, and training sessions.
8. Monitor and evaluate the impact of training programs and outreach activities on MSMEs.
9. Support the development of promotional materials and communication strategies to enhance MSMEs’ visibility and connectedness.
10. Track and report on the progress and outcomes of community coordination activities to the project manager and stakeholders.
11. Facilitate the participation of selected MSMEs in regional and global forums, including the ASMES event.
12. Provide logistical support for national events, including travel and accommodation arrangements for MSME participants.
