Your Challenge

At War Child we work to improve the resilience and wellbeing of children living with violence and armed conflict. To support the children and our programmes, we need a robust IT Infrastructure, information systems and IT devices and tools and have a modern cloud based infrastructure and systems.

As IT Officer working from the London office of War Child Alliance, you are responsible for ensuring the availability and proper functioning of the IT infrastructure. You are the primary contact point for ICT related questions for War Child staff in the London office. You support and advise staff and departments with their correct use of the systems, ensuring that all users can optimally use all the IT facilities.

You will support the organization in management, optimization and improvement of the Information Technology and Communication (ICT) facilities and monitor and safeguard the security of our IT infrastructure and IT and information assets

You will be part of the global War Child ICT Department and will work closely together with the other ICT Team members. You will report to the Team Lead IT Support based in Amsterdam.

This position will be London based, and due to the nature of the role we are expecting our new colleague taking on this role to work onsite for most of the time. The eligible candidate needs to have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and optimising the IT Infrastructure; including theMicrosoft365 and Azure environment
  • Provide technical/operational (helpdesk) support to colleagues in the London office for all questions, problems and requests regarding the IT infrastructure, functioning and use of hardware, software and peripherals
  • Monitor the performance and continuity of the infrastructure and IT-systems
  • Support with procurement of new hardware and configuration and handout of new laptops and maintain asset register/
  • Monitor security, security standards and handle security incidents
  • Registers user problems, requests, questions, determines priorities and solves them independently or put forward to third parties.
  • Provide information and guidelines to end users about the proper management and usage of IT facilities. Identifies (structural) bottlenecks in the operation of the ICT infrastructure, proposes and implements improvements; alone, with the ICT Team or with external suppliers
  • Identifies opportunities and implements improvements to improve working methods and procedures
  • Initiate and collaborate in IT improvement projects, with the ICT Team members and colleagues, and external suppliers

Your Profile

  • Relevant professional work experience, including working with MS365 and in an international context
  • Knowledge of and experience with administering MS365 and Azure (Entra ID, Intune, Endpoint)
  • Knowledge of and experience with support processes (ITIL) and providing remote support
  • Knowledge of and insight into the ICT infrastructure and IT security
  • Knowledge about networks
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; creative in finding solutions
  • Service oriented
  • Good Communication skills. Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Ability to interact with people from a wide diversity of backgrounds and cultures
  • Full support for War Child’s mandate and mission
  • Available for 30 – 37.5 hours per week

Our Offer

  • The following offer is based on a UK employment contract, actually conditions depend on the local office
  • Salary circa £32,000 gross per month, based on 37.5 hours per week
