Compensation: $65,657 USD to $72,150 USD for HQ salary based in the U.S.A; salary for citizens in other locations would be based on market

About the position:
Key Outcomes:
In the first 90 days, the Manager, International Emergency Response will:
-Learn and live the Americares values
-Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings
-Learn organization systems and review key documents (SharePoint, EMT, Incident Repository, Blackbaud, HELM, CAPE, ICARUS, acronyms, etc.)
-Understand SPHERE standards and UN Cluster System
-Develop relationships with key stakeholders and identify points of contact
-Successfully communicate key Americares messaging and organizational talking points when connecting with stakeholders

In the first 6 months, the Manager, International Emergency Response will:
-Have an understanding of how to manage individual humanitarian responses
-Become familiar with how to support the overall international humanitarian response portfolio

In the first year, the Manager, International Emergency Response will:
-Take the lead on individual international humanitarian responses, both as HQ Lead and as the Field Team Lead, as needed
-Support the management of the entire international response portfolio for short periods of time while the Director for International Responses is responding to emergencies and/or out of office

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Deploy, sometimes with 12-hour notice or less to lead or support humanitarian response efforts around the world
-Manage individual international humanitarian responses either remotely or on deployment
-Provide additional response support to the United States of America emergency response team as needed
-Monitor emergencies via news and alert systems daily, maintain on-going dialogue with relevant internal departments and external partners and, as appropriate, make recommendations regarding necessary actions
-Participate in needs assessments and data collection and analysis, with specific focus on health sector, to support humanitarian program design
-Work as operational member of emergency medical teams, which will include medical professionals and technical experts
-Facilitate effective implementation of health programs during and after humanitarian emergencies, which may include the delivery/distribution of medical supplies and supply chain management, surge support to partner health facilities, medical teams, rehabilitations and restoration of health facilities and mental health and psychosocial support services
-Ensure humanitarian responses are compliant with organization, donor and national guidelines, policies and procedures, as well as internationally recognized humanitarian standards
-Complete documentation and reporting for responses in an accurate and timely manner
-Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission
-Engage and contribute in team spaces with openness, global competencies, and a growth mindset
-Other duties as assigned

These competencies are required for the role:
-Directly related experience in humanitarian response management, having led responses in locations outside of the United States of America
-Ability and willingness to deploy on short notice and for periods of 1 week to up to 2 months
-Prepared for and motivated to be at least 50% of the time in humanitarian responses outside of the United States of America
-Global competencies, centered in safe, accountable, and inclusive emergency response best practices
-Strong understanding of international humanitarian standards and coordination systems required such as SPHERE and the UN Cluster System
-Successful project management tools and execution
-Excellent written and oral communications skills in English
-Strong problem-solving skills and impeccable judgment – demonstrated ability to apply creative solutions, work effectively in highly fluid and stressful circumstances
-Ability to work proactively independently while also being a collaborative and productive team player
-Proficiency Excel and PowerPoint, as well as other Microsoft 365 tools

U.S.A., Liberia, Tanzania and/or Colombia work authorization and a valid passport from those countries are required for this role.

These competencies would be great to have, but are not required:
-Experience designing and implementing public health programs in emergency settings
-Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English.
