Travel: Some travel within Indonesia/Possible travel internationally
DRS is looking, on behalf of our client, INGO, for a Managing Director to lead INGOs Indonesia Yayasan, overseeing all operations and strategic initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring the success of INGO Indonesia projects and fostering strong partnerships that drive meaningful change with INGO globally. Scope of Work The Managing Director will lead and manage INGO Indonesia Country Yayasan and is responsible for organizational development, fundraising, strategic planning, program implementation, and the financial and ESG performance of INGO Indonesia. The Managing Director will oversee all operations, programs, and strategic initiatives. This role requires a seasoned professional with over 15 years of managerial experience and a deep understanding of running a successful organization and people-centered team management. They must also have a demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically, be capable of developing long-term plans that align with organizational and country goals, identify opportunities for innovation and growth, and effectively navigate complex challenges to achieve sustainable outcomes. The managing director will also contribute to INGOs’ global strategy, fundraising, reporting, and communications.

Leadership & Fundraising
- Capitalize on the INGO’s potential and leverage INGO’s track record and experience to expand on our strategy for Indonesia.
- Provide visionary leadership to the country office, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Run INGO-Indonesia as a successful Yayasan, including all business, financial, legal, team, and programme requirements.
- Lead fundraising efforts in partnership with INGO, identify existing and new sources of program funding, and execute business development initiatives to grow and diversify grant resources for the country office.
- Represent INGO and INGO’s interests in national and international forums, advocating for sustainable building practices.
Strategy
- Develop and implement the country’s strategic plan (including business plan), ensuring alignment with the Global strategy and setting effective long and short-term goals for successful implementation.
- Ensure that the country’s activities align with the Global mission and vision and are tailored for precise and sustainable impact.
- Be an active and intentional collaborator with INGO Indonesia’s Yayasan Boards to design and guide any strategic issues and key changes that affect the programs and the reputation of the organization.
- Communicate the vision, mission, and strategy to the INGO team, stakeholders, and partners.
Program Management
- Oversee the planning, budgeting & control, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects.
- Ensure programs align with organizational objectives and meet funding requirements.
- Monitor and report on program performance, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for new programs and initiatives that align with the strategic goals and oversee the design and implementation of new program opportunities.
Operations and Financial Management
- Manage the Yayasan budget, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- Oversee administrative functions, including HR, recruitment, Contracting, IT, accounting, tax and finance, and logistics.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Provide regular updates to INGO’s Indonesia Boards within the agreed reporting mechanism.
- Oversee the development of program budgets, ensure efficient use of resources, and play a key role in activity planning.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with government agencies, donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for joint initiatives and funding.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote the organization’s work and impact.
Team Development and Management
- Oversees the onboarding of the current team as employees within the Yayasan and ensures HR practices & policies are compliant with all relevant in-country labour laws & regulations
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
- Foster a collaborative, fair, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
- Ensure the team understands and commits to INGO’s vision, values, and strategic objectives.
- Assist in building INGO´s capabilities in the country by ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary expertise and capacity to achieve INGO’s strategic objectives.
- Implement performance management systems to ensure team members meet organizational standards.
Local-Global synergy
- Communicate and Implement global policies and operating principles within the country office.
- Ensure all country office activities and initiatives comply with organizational standards and guidelines.
- Regularly communicate with the global office to align country-specific activities with global strategies and objectives.
- Schedule and participate in regular meetings with global leadership to ensure consistent information flow and collaboration.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and mutual respect between all INGOs Global Network, including other country offices and the global office.
- Promote understanding of cultural differences and leverage them to enhance teamwork and communication.
Reporting and communication
- Managing and reporting country-office operational and financial health, budget and cash flow to Global Office, and managing organizational, operational, financial, and tax risks
- Provide timely and comprehensive reports to the global office on program progress, financial status, and other key metrics for group-office consolidation at Global INGO`s level.
- Provide progress and impact reporting to all donors On the financial status of all grants and actual programmatic expenditures, On programmatic and organizational objectives and key results (OKRs).
- Work with the Global Communications team to develop and share compelling stories of program success, research outcomes, lessons learned, unique methodologies, and ways of working to build our brand locally and globally
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all country office operations and activities.
- Ensure donors are highly satisfied with program impact and ROI by maintaining exceptional technical quality and strict compliance with donor requirements.
- Monitor the overall impact produced by INGO’s projects on achieving INGO country objectives in Indonesia.
Essential Qualifications:
Skills and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Economics, Architecture, Business Administration, or a similar degree/qualification or a minimum of 15 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in the nonprofit sector/ international development agency/ building industry.
- An Indonesian Citizen with a demonstrated global mindset and experience, cultural competence, and adaptability in diverse environments.
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and initiatives, with an ability to set long-term goals and drive organizational growth and impact.
- Strong track record of securing funding from diverse sources, including donors, grants, and partnerships.
- Experience in developing and executing fundraising strategies.
- Experience and proficiency in managing large budgets, ensuring financial accountability, financial planning, and financial reporting.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating programs and projects.
- Experience representing the organization in public forums, media, and high-level meetings.
- Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, partners, and community leaders.
- Experience in identifying and mitigating risks.

This is a remote role and INGO requires the Managing Director to have the capacity to work from home or equivalent. Communication with INGO team members around the world is largely online and may require working outside normal working hours.
