Summary of the position

Preparing and managing medical mission’s activities that are taking place inside Syria. These missions aim to provide lifesaving, critical, and advanced/specialized medical services to people in need within the NWS region, with an additional objective of enhancing the capabilities of SAMS’s medical personnel. So, this position is important for coordinating and organizing the technical aspects of the missions, all while considering the different operational contexts within both Syria and Turkiye

Key relationships:

Medical Education Projects Section, Signature Projects Section, Syria and Türkiye project sections, Syria Office, Technical Section, Supply Chain Section, Site Managers, HQ program Department, Medical Missions Committee.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop the daily plan and training plan and discuss them with the direct manager and the program officer for medical missions.
  • Preparing the activities and training plans and sharing them with the related sections/departments and volunteers.
  • Communicating with field doctors with specializations related to the mission and coordinating with them regarding the type of cases that need to be prepared according to the specializations.
  • Coordinate the creation of all related promotional material for training and medical missions with the assistance of the media section for promotion members, volunteers, and SAMS personnel.
  • Create online technical groups for every specialty consisting of mission doctors and the SAMS-related medical personnel inside Syria and these groups can serve as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and support.
  • Arrange with the representatives of medical students and residents the lists for training and lectures.
  • Daily monitoring of the mission’s activity with all technical matters, solving any technical problem facing volunteers, the progress of the mission, and informing the program medical mission officer of any non-technical problems.
  • Communicate all follow-ups and updates regarding the missions with the mission committee members, volunteers, and related program teams.
  • Share information with SAMS’s MEAL section for gathering data and information about the missions and with media for posting on SAMS webpages.
  • Contributing with the technical input for the CN and final reports and cooperating with the Program Officer for Medical Missions.
  • Supervising the work of the field technical MMs officer and his visit plans and movement schedules.
  • Create and follow up a tracker to collect and follow up on technical comments and recommendations sent by volunteers and share them with the management and relevant departments.
  • Supervising the work of volunteers in the field from medical students and forming groups to target medical students from the universities and creating a mechanism to target those interested and active among them in training and lectures.
  • Participate in all plans, guidelines, and policies of the Medical Missions Department that contribute to the development of the department.
  • Contribute to preparing the monthly reports for the medical mission section to provide an overview of activities, progress, and any issues requiring attention.
  • Carrying out any job tasks assigned to himher by the direct manager.

THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory Qualifications required:

  • University degree in Medical Science.
  • One year of experience in the health and nutrition project officer position is desirable.
