You’ll work closely with leaders across the diaspora, driving initiatives to boost member recruitment and retention while ensuring meaningful experiences for our members.

Job Purpose

The Membership Assistant Officer plays a crucial role in building and maintaining a strong, engaged membership base. Key responsibilities include proposing and implementing strategies for membership recruitment, providing efficient membership administration, and delivering comprehensive support services. The role involves managing membership workflows, facilitating the seamless onboarding of new members, supporting both recruitment and retention efforts, maintaining accurate membership records, and ensuring clear and effective communication with all members.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying and targeting diaspora organizations that align with our mission and could benefit from membership.

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase member acquisition, retention, and engagement.

  • Collaborate with the Board and membership team to set targets and KPIs and lead the delivery of the member value proposition.

  • Implement regional strategy in line with GDC’s coordination strategic plans to increase membership coverage and activities to enhance membership engagement.

  • Oversee the regional teams, provide direction, guidance, and support to ensure they effectively align and contribute to GDC’s strategy and objectives.

  • Drive execution of membership strategies with assistance of the membership team.

  • Develop and implement tools, channels and activities to ensure a smooth membership registration and payment process, as well as strong membership engagement, whilst accurately maintaining, recording and updating the CRM database.

  • Work with the Finance Manager to ensure correct processes are in place to maximise the efficiency of the CRM in terms of membership subscription payments including direct-debits.

  • Ensure the CRM database and individual membership records are maintained in line with GDPR.

  • Oversee and manage budgets and costs related to the membership activities.

  • Analyze membership performance data and trends to identify opportunities for growth, with particular focus on geographical expansion.

  • Work closely with marketing, development, humanitarian and other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to membership management.

  • Identify and develop new membership benefits and services to add value for members

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, marketing, or a related field.

  • 3 years of experience in membership management, community engagement, customer relationship management (CRM), or similar roles.

  • Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, particularly in organizations with a focus on diaspora or community engagement, is advantageous.
