Global Rights is an international human rights capacity-building non-governmental organization (NGO). Global Rights was founded in Washington DC, USA in 1978 with the name International Human Rights Law Group and changed its name to Global Rights: Partners for Justice in 2003 at its 25th anniversary. Global Rights works with local activists in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to promote and protect the rights of marginalized populations. We provide technical assistance and training to enable local partners document and expose human rights abuses, conduct community outreach and mobilization, advocate for legal and policy reform, and provide legal and paralegal services.

Key Responsibilities:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will carry out monitoring and evaluation activities including data collection and reporting on project outcomes. The M&E Officer will oversee data collection, consolidate and analyse monitoring data and draft reports, conduct specific research activities, and conduct regular Data Quality Assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of logic models/results framework/theories of change, performance monitoring and evaluation plans, and M&E narratives for proposals, work plans, and other framework documents, including the identification and use of appropriate indicators, developing M&E matrices and indicator reference sheets, and other related tasks
  • Design data collection and reporting instruments and protocols consistent with program needs, including designing indicator tracking tables based on approved MEL Plans
  • Conduct a review of data and progress reports and maintain a tracking system to monitor the implementation of suggestions to improve reporting systems
  • Conduct data entry, including consolidating large data sets for Global Rights programs with a keen eye for data quality
  • Support monitoring efforts, baseline and end-line assessments, data quality assessments, and the development of methodologies to capture success stories, throughout the program life cycle
  • Support evaluation activities, including serving as a member of internal evaluation teams and collecting data for performance evaluations, as well as contributing to data cleaning and developing summaries for data analysis.
  • Contribute to report writing.
  • Ensure alignment of the M&E framework with program objectives and donor requirements.
  • Establish data collection tools and ensure they are used consistently
  • Manage and maintain a database for storing project data
  • Prepare regular M&E reports for project management and donors, highlighting key findings and recommendations
  • Support learning activities by capturing and documenting findings and lessons learned
  • Help design staff/volunteer/partner training on MEL practices such as data collection and quality standards, documentation, and reporting
  • Maintain MEL-related information in an organized and archived way to facilitate knowledge management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, human rights, international development, or a related field.
  • Proven 5 years of experience in in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in a non-government/ development/ humanitarian context.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant data analysis software and tools.
  • Understanding of human rights principles, climate change impacts, and equitable resource governance issues.
  • Fluency in English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Knowledge of donor reporting requirements and standards
  • Commitment to promoting social justice, environmental sustainability, and human rights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
