Sightsavers is looking for an experienced Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager for the USAID funded Global Labour Programme (GLP) in Kenya, to work across the consortium to coordinate and oversee all MEL activities.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced MEL Manager for the USAID funded Global Labour Programme (GLP) in Kenya. This is an excellent opportunity for a MEL professional who has previously worked with USAID funded projects, has economic empowerment or agricultural programme experience and understands the complexity of consortium work. You will be joining Sightsavers at an exciting and crucial time, as the Global Labour Programme enters its final two years

Key duties

  • Leading the development and implementation of annual MEL plans
  • Updating programme level results framework
  • Leading reporting against the results framework and contributing to organisational and donor reporting
  • Coordinating and supporting consortium partners to deliver against the MEL plans, results framework and donor reports
  • Evidence generation
  • Facilitating the programme’s Learning and Evidence Group
  • Leading the consortium to implement the Collaborate, Learn and Adapt (CLA) framework

As MEL Manager GLP, you will be detail-orientated with exceptional technical skills in monitoring, evaluation, and learning, such as developing theories of change, designing MEL plans, writing logframes, managing oversight processes, sharing evidence and communicating learning. You will be a confident communicator with excellent negotiation and people skills, who is confident working with multiple partners, donors and within a consortium.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrable experience in a leadership MEL position within the international development sector
  • Experience working within a USAID programme and familiarity with USAID reporting requirements and CLA approach
  • Experience gained within economic empowerment and / or agricultural programmes
  • Demonstrable experience of managing large, complex pieces of work with multiple stakeholders to produce key deliverables on time
  • Able to travel for up to six weeks per year

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a senior MEL post for a USAID funded programme
  • Experience working in a matrix-managed environment, demonstrating the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple managers and cross-functional teams
  • Experience producing analytical reports for a wide range of audiences
  • Experience of MEL approaches suitable for adaptively managed programmes
  • Experience of working within a geographically disbursed team
  • Experience of working in gender and disability inclusive programmes
  • Experience of managing large databases
  • Experience of creating dashboards in PowerBI
