JOB SUMMARY
JOB PURPOSE:
The Orphan Child Welfare Assistant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Orphan and Child Welfare Program in the field. This position involves providing hands-on assistance to orphan operations, ensuring adherence to OSP manual operation policy standards, and promoting good practices within the program. The Assistant will maintain close contact with orphans, regularly visiting them to monitor their well-being. Additionally, the Assistant is responsible for conducting annual visits to each orphan and ensuring that progress reports are completed and submitted on time.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
▪ Assist in the implementation of an orphan sponsorship program in NWS in line with IRW policies and procedures.
▪ Assist the Orphans and Child Welfare Officer on the sustainable and manageable expansion of the orphans’ programs within the agreed regions.
▪ Responsible for archiving all data of orphans and their families and maintaining their confidentiality.
▪ Responsible for updating the sponsored orphans’ bio-data in the system.
▪ Responsible for following up on the needs of sponsored orphan families and submitting them to the line manager for study.
▪ Assists in maintaining a computerized database of orphan’s related information.
▪ Monitor the utilization of sponsorship funds allocated for each child’s welfare.
▪ Document specific observations related to nutrition, hygiene, and living conditions.
▪ Identify any vulnerabilities or challenges faced by the children and their caregivers.
▪ Assist in seasonal programs like Qurbani and Ramadan food distributions for the orphans.

▪ Collect orphans’ letters and drawings, submitting them to the OCW officer.
▪ Responsible for preparing and uploading orphans’ progress reports in the system.
▪ Responsible for writing orphan case studies to support the marketing and fundraising for the OSP.
▪ Responsible to perform any other duties as and when required by the management.
Requirements, qualifications, experience, and skills
- A minimum of institute-level education or two years of university study in a relevant field.
- Minimum 2 years experience with International/National NGOs, preferably in Child Protection, Child Welfare; Orphan Child Sponsorship, or any relevant field.
- Knowledge of child protection principles and best practices.
- The post holder must show a good understanding and sympathy with the Islamic Values and Principles. A commitment to IRW’s Vision, Mission, and values is also essential.
- Ability to respond to a dynamic and changing environment and ability to work under pressure.
- High skills in writing and preparing reports periodically with commitment to the specified time frames.
- Communication and time management skills and priority is given to those who have certificates to attend related courses.
Language
▪ Proven ability to use Arabic and English (written and spoken) is a must.
IT skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to use software necessary for project management and reporting. (Word and Excel are must)
- Data analysis skills are an advantage.
