Lifting Hands International is looking for a Professional Development Manager to start in August 2024 in Greece with a minimum six-month commitment.
About Us
Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ refugees & asylum seekers at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psychosocial support programs.
Role Profile
The Professional Development (PD) program focuses on the engagement of Community Members (or, camp residents) and Community Volunteers (or, camp residents who are part of our volunteer team) in activities that promote their professional and personal development. The PD Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and development of such activities, which encompass skills-sharing and vocational workshops, employability trainings and support (e.g. C.V. writing sessions) and skills-development classes.
The Professional Development Manager works in close collaboration with the Director of Outreach and Development and the Community Engagement (CE) Manager, as part of the Community Team of LHI Serres.
Main Responsibilities
- Development and execution of trainings and workshops focused on skills development and employability, e.g. Barber Workshop, Salon Workshop, Computer Class, C.V. Building
- Supporting Community Volunteers in developing and implementing trainings, skills-sharing workshops and classes
- Support in building C.V.’s with the community
- Overseeing the overall program development while following the vision plan of LHI and adjusting structures to current situational needs and requests
- Collaboration with Program Managers in assessing the needs for program specific workshops and trainings for community volunteers
- Communication: Design of informational material for workshops, training, etc.
- MEAL: Development of program related data collection, in collaboration with MEAL Director
- MEAL: Implementation of multiple avenues of feedback collection
- Conducting regular Needs Assessments: making sure that the program is updated to meet the needs of the service users
- Safeguarding: Development & Improvement of program-specific Safeguarding Policies, Procedures
- Expansion of Collaboration with organizations on community engagement, professional development, training opportunities, etc.
Essential Criteria
- Proactive: Able to work well independently and without constant supervision
- Previous humanitarian experience, particularly in a refugee context
- Understanding of the implementation of Psychosocial Support (PSS) programs
- Understanding of community-based and community-led approaches
- Previous experience in the provision of Professional Development / Skills development activities
- Problem solving skills and flexibility
- Previous experience of people management
- Professional attitude, able to remain calm under pressure
- Able to work well in a large, multicultural team
- Minimum six month commitment
- Fluent English speaker
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of Greek / Arabic / Kurmanji / Farsi / French / German / Dutch
- International Drivers License
- Potential to stay on the team for 6-12 months
