Strategic Edge International (SEI), a social enterprise from Switzerland, partners with Amalna Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in the United States, to make cost-free training accessible to local community organizers and humanitarian actors in crisis countries. Our aim is to build basic skills and enhance existing capacities in an effort towards uplifting the professional quality of community-based services. A certificate is generated upon course completion. This course aims to ensure that community organizers, service providers, and program personnel are aware of the need for protection of people 60 years old and above. Elderly people are part of the communities that we serve and defend. Therefore it is vital that every activist, organizer, or staff person is aware of elderly abuse, how to prevent, record, and report it.
The topics include:
1: What is Elder Abuse?
2: Recognizing Signs of Abuse
3: What is Safeguarding and how it should be put into action
4: Reporting and Preventing Elder Abuse
The training methodology is self-learning through videos, slides, and handouts. Virtual discussions and online support are available with the help of our volunteer instructors. A certificate is generated upon course completion.
