Security & Access Manager, Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT)

The starting salary package for this position is £42,860 GBP / approx. $54,194 USD, including all allowances.

About MAG

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments in safely managing weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Security & Access Manager to support MAG’s emergency response and the development of a future mission in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to MAG’s lifesaving efforts in response to the conflict.

Initially based in Jordan, with frequent travel to OPT and East Jerusalem, you will apply your extensive technical knowledge and experience in security management and analysis to support MAG’s emergency response in OPT. You will monitor and assess security conditions, establish and manage access procedures, and accordingly advise the Senior Management Team (SMT). Supported by the Regional Security Manager, you will develop, manage, and implement security procedures in line with established frameworks and duty of care obligations. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering safety and security training and mentoring, and developing the local security team. This role offers a unique and challenging opportunity to address the risks posed by explosive ordnance to communities.

About you

You will be a dedicated and experienced Security & Access Manager, with at least six years of experience in security management and a strong background in humanitarian security risk management. You should have experience living and working in high-risk environments, ideally within the region, and a deep understanding of the context in OPT and Israel. Expertise in critical incident management is essential, and you should excel at political, security, and conflict analysis, as well as the development of security risk assessments.

You should be a skilled communicator, proficient in Microsoft Office and field communication devices, and experienced in networking and security training. You should have a resolute ability to remain calm under pressure, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate in complex situations. You must be self-motivated, pragmatic, and flexible, with capacity to work with limited supervision, as well as being committed to MAG’s mission and values. Proficiency in English is essential, and knowledge of Arabic or Hebrew is advantageous.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds, especially women. You do not need a military or police background to apply.

About the Occupied Palestinian Territories Emergency Response

Extensive use of precision-guided weapons, air-dropped munitions, land surface ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in OPT has destroyed critical infrastructure and created a complex contamination profile. The risk associated with unexploded ordnance (UXO) will significantly impact reconstruction efforts, food security, and access to clean water. The MAG OPT Emergency Response aims to address these risks by educating communities, identifying, and clearing explosive hazards, and developing national capacity.
