About Bahar

Bahar Organization is an independent non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian aid to vulnerable people without any discrimination in all its forms. BO is operating to respond to the needs and basic requirements of the humanitarian crisis in Syria in the middle of the affected communities caused by the conflict the basic principles of BO’s activities are to enhance the basic living standards of the affected population by delivering humanitarian aid based on the needs.

Purpose of position

The purpose of this position is to ensure quality implementation of nutrition components of the program at field level.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and follow up administration of all nutrition field centers and teams.
  • Supports planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of all nutrition activities and interventions.
  • Ensures all nutrition centers have adequate supplies to smoothly run activities.
  • Prepares and monitors program’s work plans to meet the set targets.
  • Responsible for nutrition program’s recruitment, procurement, and logistics.
  • Conducts regular field visits to provide supportive supervision to the project and ensure timeliness of ongoing work.
  • Supports Assessing knowledge gaps amongst field staff and support in conducting training to enhance knowledge and skills of staff related to the project.
  • Supports the field teams in conducting home visits, nutrition screening, IYCF counseling, defaulter tracing and other tasks.
  • Ensures accurate department related data is collected and submitted on time.
  • Supervises the production of appropriate IEC material.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders as well as other departments in BAHAR.
  • Participates in representing Bahar at all relevant technical external meetings, working groups, or other meetings as approved by the line manager.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and core values of BAHAR
  • Complies with BAHAR policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Performs any other duties as delegated by the Nutrition Coordinator.

Academic Qualification/s and Professional Experience:

  • BSc in Nutrition, Health, or other related fields.
  • 2- 3 years NGO experiences in nutrition programming, experience in both health and nutrition will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging in dialogue with a range of actors.
  • Experience in nutrition projects.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills – Microsoft word, power point and excel.
  • Experience working with KOBO data collection tool.
  • Experience in engaging the community and community mobilization.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Willingness to travel to project areas within the north of Syria.
