World Vision is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor, Global Health Security, for the anticipated USAID-funded Global Health Social and Behavior Change (GH-SBC) Activity. The five-year, multi-country GH-SBC Activity seeks to implement theory-informed, evidence-based, locally led social and behavior change (SBC) programming. Key focus areas include family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH); malaria; and maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), with attention to emerging pandemic threats and other infectious diseases. While focused primarily on health, the project may address SBC needs in other sectors, with particular attention to areas of potential complementarity such as environmental conservation, agriculture, food security, and nutrition.

As the Senior Technical Advisor, Global Health Security, you will be responsible for providing overall strategic technical leadership and oversight in the implementation of social behaviour change (SBC) strategies and activities to prevent; detect; and respond to COVID-19, Ebola, Zika and other emerging infectious disease threats. You will deliver technical assistance to local organisations and stakeholders to implement strategies for risk communication and community engagement (RCCE), including activities to mitigate risk, encourage appropriate treatment seeking behaviour, promote interactive communication channels, and improve community preparedness.

Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project. Local candidates residing in the program’s priority countries are encouraged to apply. Selection of the final applicant is subject to USAID approval. The estimated program start date is September 2024.

Requirements include:

• Medical or nursing degree preferred. Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, health management or related discipline also highly desired.
• At least seven years’ experience in technical leadership of projects with a strong focus on SBC, infection prevention and control, global health security, emergency preparedness and response, and strengthening the capacity of local partners.
• Program technical leadership and implementation experience for programs funded by U.S. governments is required. Experience with USAID-funded programs preferred.
• Experience in the technical design of SBC and global health security programs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
• English speaking/writing proficiencies.
