Lifting Hands International (LHI) is a quickly growing nonprofit organization dedicated to
providing aid to refugees both domestically and internationally. Founded in 2016, our mission is
to offer immediate relief and long-term solutions to the challenges faced by those impacted by
forced migration. In addition to our humanitarian work, LHI is committed to raising public
awareness about the lives and struggles of displaced individuals, while fostering a deeper
understanding of aid work. For more information, please visit our website: LHI.org.
We are seeking a full-time Storyteller and Social Media Specialist to join our expanding
communications and in-house video production team. This role is centered around storytelling,
not marketing. We are looking for a highly skilled individual who understands the nuances of
humanitarian work and can write stories that respect and honor the individuals we serve.
Working closely with the Communications Director, this position will create a diverse range of
written content, including blog articles, social media posts, video descriptions, and newsletters.
Additionally, this role will ensure that LHI’s content stays current with trends and best practices
across multiple social media platforms.

Our vision for this role is to honor people’s stories while maximizing their reach and impact.
LHI’s voice in the humanitarian sector is unique, rooted in our deep commitment to
empowerment and the preservation of human dignity. Our content reflects these core values,
both in the stories we tell and in how we share them across social media platforms.

Responsibilities
● Develop, pitch, and write blog articles that highlight the lives of LHI team members,
program participants, and aid recipients and explore current events.
● Schedule and create social media posts for platforms including Facebook, Instagram,
YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
● Collaborate with field teams to gather additional context for stories.
● Conduct interviews with team members to generate content.
● Stay informed on news and current events to ensure LHI content aligns with relevant
coverage.
● Write press releases and content for the Annual Report.

Key Knowledge and Skills
● Strong creative writing and storytelling abilities.
● Proven experience in social media management, including content creation, scheduling,
and analytics.
● Strong analytical skills with the ability to distill large amounts of information into
concise, impactful messages.
● Basic understanding of trauma-informed approaches to working with individuals who
have experienced forced displacement.
● Ability to adapt to LHI’s voice.
● Receptive to feedback and motivated to improve.
● Strong organizational and planning skills; familiarity with Monday.com is a plus.

Qualifications
● Relevant undergraduate or graduate degrees are advantageous.
● Permanent residence in the United States.
● Ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy (this is a remote position),
while also being a collaborative team player who can effectively engage with a diverse
range of internal and external stakeholders.
● Demonstrated commitment to professional growth in the field of content creation.
● High energy, strong organizational skills, and a passion for LHI’s mission are essential.
● Background in journalism is a plus.

Salary & Benefits
● Salary: $50,000 annually, with a 10% raise after 12 months, plus a 1% Cost of Living
Adjustment (COLA) every 6 months.
● Benefits: 20 PTO days and 14 floating holidays, along with a 401k match (up to 3%).
