The Training Officer (Protection) reports to the Senior Humanitarian Principles Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Develops and updates training strategy on humanitarian principles as part of the Division’s overall strategy, ensuring the evolvement of humanitarian principles are reflected thereof; Conducts needs assessments for humanitarian principles training capacity development, in coordination with Fields and HQs Departments; develops an annual training calendar, and prepares course schedules, to improve and promote humanitarian principles in the Agency. Develops, produces, and/or updates training courses related topics for the Agency in coordination with the Human Resources Department; conducts or supports the implementation of such training, through on-line and/or in-person; ensures the mandatory e-courses. Monitors and develops mechanisms for evaluating the effectiveness of various training modules developed for Protection Division; processes and analyzes learning data to draw insights and follows up to improve learning initiatives, addresses the identified areas for improvement, and follows up their implementation. Engages closely with internal and community outreach activities on humanitarian principles, ensuring that messaging and training efforts are synchronized together and with aligned with the Division’s strategy. Keeps abreast of applied learning developments, best practice and lessons learned in the humanitarian sector that can be applied to UNRWA and makes recommendations accordingly. Writes clear, concise activity reports for the donor and contributes to the monitoring activities with compliance and completing monitoring reports.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in business, public administration, human rights, sociology, development studies, or a related discipline.

Work Experience
At least of five years of relevant experience in capacity development, adult education, developing and supporting blended learning programmes with a strong e-learning component and training facilitation is required. Unless already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System, at least two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA, and outside the country(s) of citizenship is required. Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in business, public administration, human rights, sociology, development studies, or a related discipline is required. Experience with a UN Agency is desirable. Experience in developing training on sensitive issues with a degree of reputational risk for the organization is desirable. Familiarity with course packaging and data collection/processing tools relevant to blended learning is desirable.
